A pleasant surprise, Bottle. Light carbonation, almost no head. Pleasant aroma. Dark amber. Caramel & Chocolate. Sweet finish. Zenwolf (269) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 14, 2010
Bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown with a very thin light tan head. Mild caramel thats nuitty with good malting. The mouth is full and rich with dark fruits, complex sugars and a slight hopsy bitter. A great brew. sinkhole (263) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 19, 2007
Bottle: Pours clear dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of light sweet carmels and roasted malts, which follow through to the initial taste. Found a bit of a alcohol finish at the end.
Overall, a nice beer, but I probably won’t have it again. iambeer (255) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 17, 2005
Now ontario has something that can be held up to Quebecs Unibroue. An easy drinkable dark ale littley sweet, lightly bitter, I loved it. and would love it alot more if I had more.

A damn fine strong ale. A bit of sour apples and alcohol in the aroma. A complex maltiness hits you right up front followed by a bit of alcohol and a bit of hops and alcohol in the finish. The color is a dark red, almost mahogany and the carbonation is damn near perfect by my standards (light to fair medium). BINGEBOT (240) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 12, 2007
Sweet smell, almost like banada or pear. Darker brown in colour, fizzy & decent head. Weak initial taste with a kick of alcohol. Sweet but unidentifiable. Overall decent but nothing special. strowlands8 (213) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 25, 2009
Ruby brown , minimal off-white head, had no lacing, alcoholic warming, aroma of dark fruits, berries, roasted malt and malty bitterness. Medium carbonation, reminds me of Trois Pistoles. Pretty decent alcohol is a little overwhelming, but still a decent offering. KingofCastle (208) - London, Ontario, CANADA - APR 6, 2008
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2008 Yet another over-rated beer from this very average brewery. This is up there with Tankhouse for an allegedly flavourable ale, but both are thin, lacking malts, depths of flavours and seem almost too fizzy for an english ale. Give me a Fullers or John Bull any day or even a Belgian ale for big alcohol content with way more flavour. Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale has more alcohol & way more flavour than this. This does have caramel and is sweet, but needs more malts to round it out.
