Pours dark copper with thin head. Aroma is rather nutty with no hop character. Full body with medium malt finish. Very sticky mouthfeel would be balanced by more hopping. The dominance of the malt in this one makes one bottle at a time enough for me.
Does anyone else think the guy on the bottle looks like Mickey Desadest from the Forgotten Rebels?? MeisterEckart (18) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2002
Despite the deep amber colour, brown-hued head and definite malt aroma, this ale was not as heavy as I expected. The body is malty and sweet, and leaves behind a bitter coffee aftertaste which is not unpleasant. It does seem to improve with time, and I enjoyed the beer more as I neared the bottom of the pint glass, since the beer lost some of its carbonation and gained a smoother feel and more sweetness. This leads me to think it could be delicious as a non-carbonated cask ale. Chief6rocka (2) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 4, 2015 does not count
Great dark beer and goes down smooth. Chocolate taste with a mix of coffee. From far looks like rate wine! Lol
