Bottle. Sweet sugary aroma, kind of like coke. Dark brown colour, rust colour when held up to the light. Traces of a thin white head at first. Sour on the tip of my tongue. Too sugary/sweet for my taste. tomthompson89 (1982) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 1, 2007

Bottle in a trade with matt7215....7-30-09....Licorice and brown sugar aroma--they don’t mix well.....reddish brown with no foam....malted cherry ....light bodied yet substantial...well balanced and good Slacks (615) - Bolton, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 29, 2007
341ml Bottle: Pours deep brown, red edges, with a very good light brown head. Aroma is heavy in alcohol, roasted malts, and caramel. The taste is very, very strong in alcohol, it doesn’t hide well for a 6.5%. Some malty, caramel sweetness with substantial hoppy bitterness. Seems like it’s missing some balance, and the alcohol just gets stronger as it warms. Not their best. rob6239 (677) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 3, 2011
From bottle. Pours with slight white head and dark caramel colour. Slight malty aroma and strong slightly bitter taste.

Dark amber body, creamy white head approx. 4 cm thick. Smells of sugar, malt, and dark fruits. Watery taste, bitter hops, toffee and lots of malt; grapes, prunes, plums, etc. Not very good nor distinctive. Purchased at LCBO in Toronto, CA and was not necessarily worth the smuggling back to Virginia. Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2010
dark amber in colour. malted caramel tones but i amalways surprised by the amount of soap box characters i find in this bottle at the beggining, which disappears quickly but it is still there. some bread and roasted almonds.
I find the mid palate on this one thin. it finishes nice and malted and almost roasted coffee. like most ontario brews, which i find on the lighter side of things, it can have large commercial appeal. it is a good session beer and i wouldn’t mind having this but it doesn’t stand out to be as being fantastic. jgb9348 (6256) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2004
Slightly hazy brown coloured body with a thin off-white head-fairly standard looking. Aroma of raisins, caramel, soap and a bit of malt-not too impressive. Medium-bodied; Strong burnt sugar flavour ranging from toffee to caramel with some hints of hops and a subtle bitterness. Overall, a decent beer-not as good as the Imperial Stout, but worth trying. I sampled this from a 65 cL bottle purchased at the LCBO in Toronto, Ontario (Queen’s Quay) brought back by JonR888710-thanks Jon! RooftopRogue (423) - Champaign, Illinois, USA - JAN 2, 2006
This beer’s aroma can only boast of dates. A dark copper colored solution that has only a glaze of a head. This beer is heavy and tastes of dates when enters the mouth. As it fades it leaves a ting of caramel resting on the palate.
