Release date: February 11th 2012 Wellington Brewery is proud to present a beer that bridges the gap between tradition and trend, Terrestrial India Brown Ale. This beer has the rich malt complexity of an English brown ale with layers of roasted caramel and earthy characteristics. Terrestrial is more than a traditional brown ale, it has been hopped in the style of an American Cascadian pale ale. Amarillo and Sorachi Ace hops dance on the nose while being accompanied by the refreshing citrus bitterness of infused cascade whole leaf hops. This beer will allow your senses to soar and explore while being grounded to terra firma.

4-pack mixer from beer store. Deep wood furniture brown with a thin layer of dark foam. Nice clash of rich rye meets pale ale style hops. The brown ale part is a little watery & uninspired but I still kind of dig this. Good midweek beer.

Bottle, Mulmur, ON via LCBO. Deep brown, foamy head. Biter chocolate caramel aroma. Slight metallic flavour. Brown sugar. Chocolate and balancing hops at end.

Surprised to see this stuff getting so little love. Beautiful, dark mahogany colour - I want a desk and leather armchair to match. Citrus/pine hops on the nose, with an earthy, nutty caramel malt backdrop. Taste is nutty and fruity, lots of fragrant hops, and a finish thats just the right amount of bitter for the style (IMHO). Not as good as Le Castors Eclipse, or Pit Caribous Brown Ale Americaine, but in the same mould. Really nice, really drinkable.

Love the use of sorachi ace in this beer... Nice and spicy with a complimentary of pine and citrus peels. Excellent hoppy brown ale with compliments of nuts and caramel.

Cap and flip-top bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark amber, almost copper colour with a big head, warm-beige, frothy, creamy, long lasting and with lots of lace. At first, chocolate and mild vanilla aromas, with some grassy hops and fruity notes coming later. The taste is more on the dark roasted malts and the hops gets stronger in the finish. Decent dry mouthfeel, but still refreshing overall. Hints of fruits and nuts. Closer to a watery stout that meets an IPA. Still, a pretty good crossover brew.

Nice chestnut brown pour with a gorgeous, mocha coloured head. Aromas are a bit woody, a touch nutty, with a hint of smoke. A creamy, full, mouthfeel. Tastes are dry cocoa powder, the merest hint of pine, and as it warms, some red fruit peels. Im not sure what to make of this one, or exactly how to categorize it, but it is an enjoyable beer to drink landing somewhere in between a sipper, and quaffable.

Armes de houblons secs et francs. Pamplemousse, mangue, abricot.

As a Welly One-Off 2015. 750ml bottle. Pours a huge frothy beige head and has a dark brown appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of earthy hops. Flavours have a bit of a smokey like taste at first. Lots of malty and earthy hop flavours as well. Some good bitterness and sweetness, well balanced. Goes down quite well.

A fluffy ivory brown head. The nose is quite faint, with elements malt and chocolate. Chocolate and cream lead the taste profile, which is unusual for a brown ale, to say the least. That said, this is an understated, well blended beer with sub-tastes of mild grassy hops and roasted nuts. A bit off category but it all hangs together.

750 mL ridiculous bottle. There should be a rule against putting ordinary beers in elaborate packaging and then charging the consumer for the packaging. Or maybe I should just smarten up and stop falling for this shit. This one somehow manages to miss out on the best qualities of both the "india" and the "brown."
