Release date: February 11th 2012 Wellington Brewery is proud to present a beer that bridges the gap between tradition and trend, Terrestrial India Brown Ale. This beer has the rich malt complexity of an English brown ale with layers of roasted caramel and earthy characteristics. Terrestrial is more than a traditional brown ale, it has been hopped in the style of an American Cascadian pale ale. Amarillo and Sorachi Ace hops dance on the nose while being accompanied by the refreshing citrus bitterness of infused cascade whole leaf hops. This beer will allow your senses to soar and explore while being grounded to terra firma.

355mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out stale bready malts, some earth and toasted caramel. Flavour is better, with a decent blend of hops and roast. Not very deep, but it’s reasonable enough.

Muddy, thin head. Dull aroma is mostly phenolic, but with a touch of nuttiness. Moderate bitterness, a bit thin, and this hasn’t got either much body or much malt complexity. It’s been a while since I had anything from this brewery, but honestly this isn’t to the level I remember from them.

A reddish copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, weird grassy malt with light off notes, roasted character. In mouth, light watery nutty malt with grassy hops, light chocolate, OK.

I had this both on tap and on cask at The Only café. More mouthfeel and lacy on tap. Strange aroma for both versions. A sweet brown with some mild IPA thrown in.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2013 2013-01-31. Dark brown body, nice tan head and lace. 3+ Modest aroma, bit of hops and earthy malt character. 7+ Flavour is pleasantly bitter, light leafy green hop character, mild earthy malt notes. Light roast in the finish comes out as you go. 7+ average plus palate. 3++ nice, very drinkable. 7/4/7/4/16 On tap at Bar Hop, Toronto

2012-02-25. Mahogany red-brown body, modest tan and and nice lace on the glass. Flavour is interesting, modest hoppy bitterness over a mild brown ale like base, lingering leafy green hops. Pleasant, very well balanced. I would like more assertive hops but you might lose a bit of the drink-ability that way. 7+ Fairly mild aroma, light green hops, muted malt. 6+ Average palate suits it. 7/4/7/3/15 On tap at Volo, Toronto

Deep brown pour with a tight white head. The aroma is slightly hoppy with a touch of soft malt Fairly crackery and a little bit earthy as well. Soft and a touch of lingering bitterness. Pretty decent actually.

Draught at Bar Hop Customer Appreciation Night, Jan. 31. Pours a deep dark orange-amber with a small lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted malt, nuts, leafy hops and a hint of chocolate. Pleasant malty flavour along with leafy hops, some roastiness and notes of coffee. Average to medium bodied. Surprisingly good for this brewery, keep it up.

Aroma: solid compilation of darker them with aromatic hop variety. Hint of chocolate, pit with garden zest.7+
Look: poured as clear dark amber with fairly dense almost creamy off white top. Sparse lace presented. 4-
Taste: lower carbonation. Strong earthy, woody notes typical to brown ale yet with bit more depth than most. Slight touch of zest on side. Drinkable , satisfying approach. Nice brewing.

2013-01-31 - on draught at Bar Hop. Refractive burnt copper, clear, with a solid creamy lasting beige head. Smells a bit like an altbier - dry woody and nutty lightly roasted malt, mild leafy bitterness, not much alcohol - hint of cocoa and mercifully not sweet. Taste follows - nutty/nutshell, hint of pencil shavings, a little burnt mahogany - not much alcohol and surprisingly bitter. Slick, a tad undercarbonated, a little astringent (almost a hint of smoke to it), finishes fairly long, low-level burnt and lightly bitter - really one of the best new offerings from Wellington in a long time.
