Tasting at Matt’smikkopen (1191) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 16, 2017
Dark brown color. Stale chocolate aroma. Roasted malts, light chocolate, a bit puckery, with too much bitterness in the final.
Not very good.
355 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown colour, thin tan head. Sweetish toasted malty aroma with caramel and notes of dried fruit. The flavour is toasted malty, with smoky notes, nuts and fruits, and a dryish bitter finish. Tasty. fiery1 (1561) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 5, 2017
355ml bottle @ Matt’s. Pours a mostly opaque medium brown colour with a small beige head. Nose is earthy and bready malts. Flavour is piney hops and a roasted character. Light bodied yet packs too much bitterness. Oakes (18467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 5, 2017
Muddy, thin head. Dull aroma is mostly phenolic, but with a touch of nuttiness. Moderate bitterness, a bit thin, and this hasn’t got either much body or much malt complexity. It’s been a while since I had anything from this brewery, but honestly this isn’t to the level I remember from them. mcberko (18556) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 5, 2017
355mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out stale bready malts, some earth and toasted caramel. Flavour is better, with a decent blend of hops and roast. Not very deep, but it’s reasonable enough.

355ml bottle no date. Pour dark brown with some copper notes, rich creamy off-white foam. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and brown sugar. No hops, maybe of its age ? Taste is light on the roasted malt, residual sugar is not overdose. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet and light bitter. Medium sweet roasted finish. azzurro (371) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 12, 2017
Got this one part of the holiday 4-pack. This brown ale was a bit disappointing, nothing worth noting. ChadPoole (478) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2017
Pours dark brown with an off white head. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt, carmel and nuts flavours with a good hop bitter kick. Interesting combo that works very well. Last one of the Welly Re-Booted 4 pack. Great pack of beers. Raistlin (449) - London, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 19, 2017
Pours brown colour with average head that leaves plenty of lacing behind. Burnt malt and earthy aroma with a citrus. It has nice smooth average body. Flavour is slightly sweet caramel and burnt malt, little bitterness at the end, but not as much as other brown ales. Well balanced. cfrancis (3535) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 13, 2017
Pours dark brown with a moderate brown foamy top. Aroma is nutty, caramel and a touch of toasted malt. Taste is moderate body, nice mouthfeel, slightly creamy, nutty with a little toast and a slight sweetness of toffee. Nice citrus hop bitterness although most of the hop flavours are overshadowed by the nutty.
