This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Banana oil aroma. Light mahogany, medium white head. Flavour is rather hoppy, with a slight banana tang. Somewhat watery and overcarbonated. Bitter banana finish. Not a happy marriage of flavours here.

The aroma is mostly fake banana (think banana candy) with some malt and spice backing. Thankfully this doesn’t transfer into the flavor, though it’s also far from spectacular. The flavor is mostly malt with a slight banana aftertaste and just a hiiiiiint of spices. Nothing special.

Pours a vibrant copper with standard white head. Aroma goes with what’s advertised: banana bread and malt. The banana is intense, smelling almost like banana taffy. Initial flavor of malt, a bit of hops, and a lingering banana finish. Tastes more like a cheap pale lager as I continue: more corn, grain, and stale hops. A bit thin, watery, and bitter of stale hops. It went downhill after sip one.

Had this at a beer tasting and my low expectations were met. This stuff is not not my thing...I don’t like bananas in the first place so this kinda ruins something I do like...BEER! Even if I did like both....say like chocalate ice cream and real spicy chili.....doesnt mean i want them in the same bowl...kinda gross.

Interesting beer with banana all over the place. Actually better than the expectations (low). The banana flavor is there all right, but it marries the malts and hops pretty good. Fun to have tried it, but its going to take a while before I buy it again.

Bottle, thanks Fredrik. Pours a golden color with a small head. Aroma is lightly malty, but dominated by, surprisingly, banana. Flavour is likewise with lots of matured bananas and some light caramel. Light bodied, quite smooth mouthfeel. Fun to try one time, but I can’t say I like it. It is what it is.

16.9 oz. bottle that I received as a gift. Pours a crystal clear gold with a thin-moderate linen white head that lasted through the first two sips and left a few specks of lace. The aroma is filled with bananas and malt and is very inviting. The flavor begins with that same solid dose of banana, along with some weak malt. This gives way to a sharp, crisp, dry finish that is basically devoid of flavor. What happened to the banana? I was expecting a good deal more body out of this beer and a bit more sweetness as well. The banana flavor without the rich texture just didn’t work for me.

Does have a slight essence of banana in the olfactory. A darker tinge of clear pale yellow in the color. Taste does have that banana in it, hard to beleive and it does not taste artificial. Barely any carbonation. Hard to beleive this is styled as an english strongy, its only 5%. Yes, has a dry finish to it, not really sweet, just banana. Quite interesting and unique. Gets better as you near the end of the half liter, odd shaped, bottle.

While I couldn’t drink many at one sitting, the banana smell and flavor make it extremely interesting.

beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 17, 2009
Bright gold colour with thin white hea, have chocolate/banana aroma, very much like a perky nana. Thin body, dry finish. More of a gimmick type beer.
