2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours out a dark golden/near amber hue with a small white head. Big estery nose of ripe banana, and sugary sweet pale malts with just a hint of brown sugar. Body was odd; starts weak and nearly stale tasting, but then washes in with a full body and warming balance and sweetness. Flavor was a little shabby, like candied fake banana esters, bread yeast, with toffee and mineral water blandness. Overall kinda sweet, a little bitter, and fake tasting. Not all too much like banana bread, needs more bready sweetness and brown sugar.

330 ml bottle ageing in the fridge for a few months, so may have been a bit past its peak. Pours a hazy amber tone with a strong white head of foam. The froth dissipates relatively quickly leaving some sticky lacing, but reappears with swirling later. Unfortunately, I donít detect the fabled bananas and bread in the bouquet, which I find are dominated by the traditional ale aromas - cereal, bread and dough in an earthy sort of way. In the mouth, however, a light taste of bananas is detectable, though it does not last too long before it is subsumed under the malty ale flavours. Overall, it tastes lightly sweet, with an average level of carbonation. Mouthfeel, however, is rather thin and a bit watery, hence a bit of a let down at the end.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle. Pours a clear amber-orange with a small, short lived, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of overripe bananas and bready malt. Sweet flavour of bready malt, banana, toffee, sugar, corn and vanilla with a dry, bitter finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Ok.

It tastes exactly as it sounds. Like banana bread soaked in a nut brown ale. Very little bitter taste with a clean finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pale copper body, small head. Aroma has light caramelly malts, vanilla and some banana. Sweet caramelly taste with added banana and vanilla. Much lighter than expected. Mouthfeel is fizzy like a lemonade. I donít like English ales to be watery and fizzy. Reminds me of a certain local lemonade. Underwhelming. I donít think "steely dryness" should be a desired quality in a beer.
