500 ml bottle. Amber body with a small tan head. Aroma of malt and caramel with some toast. Flavor is sweet malt, toast, caramel and moderate bitterness. Medium to thin body and moderate in aftertaste. Smooth malty bitter without so much bitterness. Viper666 (3289) - Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 11, 2013
Canette 500ml.

Clear 568ml (a pint) bottle, best before Nov 2007, drank June 2007.
Poured into a pint sleeve glass. Good dark amber, redwood colour with a firm biege head. The beer was clear and had bubbles rising through, it looked very drinkable ( and drinkable it is).
There was no aroma for me at all, even as the beer warmed up (not that it was cold to start with), I couldn’t detect a hint of hops, malts, yeast or anything else.
A good solid English Bitter, this is not a Pale Ale, as stated on this site. The front label calls it ’FINEST BITTER’, which gives it away a little bit really. On the rear it claims to have the ’tang’ of a traditional London-Style Bitter and its golden tawny colour. Well it does have a slight citrusy ’tang’, but I wouldn’t call it a modern London style bitter.
A very nice drink, pity about the lack of aroma, I wonder if my nose has packed up working? Grzesiek79 (4381) - Radom, POLAND - MAR 12, 2012
roasty, cereal, basement aromas, citrus, banana, licorice, amber, cloudy, white foam, medium sweetness, very bitter, heavily sour, full body, creamy, soft carbonation, bitter, long finish, Metalchopz (3474) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 2, 2011
Originally rated January 2007. I’ve always liked the Charles Wells the LCBO has available. Never a crazy hand-brewed product, but a fine product none-the-less. This one pours a clean light copper colour with a nice creamy off-white head. Great retention and thick lace. Carbonation is light, but consistent. Beautiful nose of strawberries at first, which changes to spices afterward with rusty malt and decent hop. A very nice blend of aromas. Creamy mouthfeel. Taste is smooth, with an Irish ale feel. Has a bit of fruit at first, going into some mild caramel and then bitterness takes over. Again, nothing too strong here, but just a good macro that is above average. Draught at Fox and Hound, Herning. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter ice flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. cyrenaica (1159) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - APR 23, 2009
I tried this beer on June 15, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a beautiful translucent red colour with a 1/2 inch tan coloured head. The aroma is slightly sweet malt, dark fruits, and a little hops. The mouthfeel was thin to medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavour was a tad watery with some malted sense and a little hoppish feel. Very easy to drink
