This is a really light hefeweizen. It is light in body and has that nice hef aroma, but the taste is a little sweet. Although it didn’t make a tremendous impression, it’s a good well-rounded beer.

Pours a well-hazed golden/wheat with a light volume of floaties and delicate carbonation topped by a large, white head that is creaminess defined. Aroma finds overripe banana yeastiness with English toffee behind and alcohol late. A smooth, creamy mouthfeel carries sweet malts to a sour, yeasty finish. Surprisingly, this actually got worse as it warmed... the palate thins and flattens while alcohol joins the sourness in an unremarkable way. So I’d advise to drink this while it still holds a chill.

As the Mercury rises here in Oz for the long hot summer ahead, I can’t imagine life without wheat beers to quench the thirst, and with offers like this one, I think the heat may just be bearable this year. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a weissbier glass, chilled from the fridge. Palest straw body, opaque, with what appeared to be a tinge of pink running through it even into the huge, persistent fluffy white head that formed off the pour. Head continued to rise a good inch from the brim and left trails of gluggy bubbles down the sides. Zesty and slightly clove-like spicy, banana, apple and pear nose with a strong doughy sweet, yeasty note underneath. Quite inviting!! Instant, yet subtle, whack of bananas and strawberries, lemons and candied, zesty fruit flavours in the mouth. Quite light in body and prickly in carbonation when cold, but it softened and thickened as it warmed in the outside heat. Quite sour (for a Hefe-weiss) and lactic in the back with a nice clean and fresh citric fruit finish. As it warmed a little vanilla came in and the banana flavour strengthened to dominate the palate and fill the aftertaste. Almost better at cellar temperature than chilled, this was a great refresher. Easily quaffable, balanced to perfection and a crowd-pleaser all round. Quite nice!!! (50cL, 12/06/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Poured a large white head that didn’t want to hang around much. Pale straw colour with a hazy clarity. Cloves mainly in the nose along with some yeast. Zest in the taste, I don’t notice the banana as much as other raters, not too tart, just doesn’t turn me on that much, a little thin with a lemon and chalky finish.

Bottle, courtesy of the Danes @ ZBF 2005. Hazy yellow gold, thin white head and moderate condition. Pleasant but subdued banana fruitiness in the nose, quite yeastily chalky in the mouth with some low banana notes, sweet and gentle fruity finish.

Pours hazy golden-orangish, with a wispy white head. Sweet yeasty aroma of apples and clove. Taste is spicy with notes of dusty yeast. Reminds me of Wy3333. Fairly uneventful hefe.

Amazing lack of consistency in the reviews of this one. My bottle had a huge white head over a cloudy orange body. Not much nose. Taste of citrus, lemon, orange, cloves, and toffee, with maybe some banana. Didn’t love it, liked it just fine.

(500 ml bottle: $2.29 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Not much of a Hefeweizen here, as this might even taste closer to a crappy American Wheat. Bready, wheaty maltiness is the dominant flavor, and there’s precious little of the expected spicy and estery flavors. Hints of banana in the nose, but again it’s mostly just a bready maltiness. Orange-golden color, somewhat cloudy, with a small, but quickly fleeting appearance by the off-white head. Light-medium in body, but with the carbonation levels being a bit low and the flavor profile being what it is, the mouthfeel of this beer is like a bum who has passed out on your front lawn and you can’t get him to leave, so you call the police and they haul him away. I’m off to get a glass of water to clean this bum off my palate.

Poured a clear yellow color with a thin white head. Malty aroma with a touch of citrus and light banana. Flavor has malt up front with an acidic finish. Smooth on tongue and a light to medium body. A little boring actually.
