50cl bottle. Aroma has bread, roasty, coffee. Color is dark brown with slight red, light white head which leaves lacing. Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness, umami. Has a full body thick feel, soft carbonation, bitter. Overall very nice brew.

Was a huge fan of Franziskaner dunkelweizen when I lived in Philly, and went through 53 kegs. Retired in Lompoc, CA this year and found out it was not available in CA. Dunkelweizen is rare on the west coast where "805" and Negra Modelo are the biggest sellers. Fortunately, a local beer store has Weltenburger "Dark Wheat" in swing top bottles and I was very pleased with the aroma and taste. Somewhat lighter than the Franziskaner, but otherwise plenty of banana and caramel with a nice subtle touch of clove.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2017 Bottle. Dark mahagony featuring a nice foamy beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel and a little dose of hops. Taste is malts, nuts, caramel with tiny hints of chocolate. Moderate roasty and hoppy bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Very balanced. Well done Dunkel.

Dark red to brown color. Thin but lasting head. Very malty with toffee and Carmel. Slight sour finish. Overall very nice and representative of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle in dimpled mug. Pours like a root beer: dark brown with a big frothy head that faded quickly. Rich, malty and tasty: dark choc & coffee, notes of vanilla, cherry and smoke. Sweet finish but not cloying.

BJCP regarded this one as one of the best style examples. need to practise this style, so here we go ! Thnx sinH4 for trading me this one ! Pours very dark, clear, caramelly. Small white head, seemingly not very stable. smell is breadcrust, brown bread, mild chocolate, some earthyness. medium in intensity. clean fermentation. Taste is starting of a tad bitter, but quickly fades into a chocolaty, dark bread-type of maltyness. medium high carbonation, medium body. nice aromatic features, bit earhty. Aftertaste is rich and has more of the dark bread / breadcrust features, as well as the chocolaty/earthyness in lesser amounts. Clean fermentation profile. Nice one indeed.

Clear brown color with minimal off-white head which disappears quickly. Aroma of sweet malts with bread, syrup and little roast. Taste is quite malty with bread. Finishes with light hops and sweet malts. Average carbonation. Overall very enjoyable dunkel
