A big malty beer. Now we’re talking! This is a great beer because it tastes like a beer should taste: beer.

Clear crimson-amber colour with a huge brown head. Wonderfully roasty caramel aroma with hints of hazelnut. Bittersweet taste with a full body. Long, roasty finish. Excellent beer.

Oh what a lovely palette of flavors. Rich malt sweetness of dried fruit and a little burnt tones finishing with balanced bitterness.

the most lovely smelling beer ive ever had. its straight-up hop accented dark berry marmelade -taste-wise dark berries are dominant -plums,dates,cherries,sweet malt are all there -middling carbonation (traditional for the style),but big head retension -malty finish with quite a nice hoppy note, wished it had more variety though Top of the class Dunkel. Only had minor irks during the finish

Was a huge fan of Franziskaner dunkelweizen when I lived in Philly, and went through 53 kegs. Retired in Lompoc, CA this year and found out it was not available in CA. Dunkelweizen is rare on the west coast where "805" and Negra Modelo are the biggest sellers. Fortunately, a local beer store has Weltenburger "Dark Wheat" in swing top bottles and I was very pleased with the aroma and taste. Somewhat lighter than the Franziskaner, but otherwise plenty of banana and caramel with a nice subtle touch of clove.

500 ML bottle in Germany. Dark brown nice partly see through color. Light brown head. Aroma is hard to pinpoint but a fastastic aroma, wonderful. A high class beer. Claims the oldest Dunkel of the world, might be, but it is one of the best for sure. The standard others are set. A wonderful flavor of many tastes. Again hard to say them all. I like this better than their Bock.

CanCrusher (1189) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - OCT 9, 2013
Bottle 0,50L. Crystal clear amber-brown colour with medium big light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, cacao, caramel, milk chocolate, white coffee, brown sugar. Taste follows aroma - moderate bitter with strong chocolate-cappucino taste and long lasting aftertaste. Medium to full body, with structure somewhere between watery and oily, soft carbonation. Best dunkel, I tried so far...
