On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is malts, spiced breads. Taste is caramel malts, some tartness, vanilla, dried fruit. One of the better German beers I’ve had.

Calisky (2941) - ALSACE, FRANCE - APR 12, 2015
Couleur ambrée, forte mousse blanche. Nez de malt toasté et caramel. Gout malté et caramel cuit, petites épices et note reglisse avec leger houblon et petite amertume. Corps moyen. Fin légère caramel et amère. Pas trop mal

CapFlu (5127) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 27, 2015
Pours a lasting thin white creamy head atop a light copper coloured body. Nose of a raw dough and mildly spiced bread. Very drinkable. Smooth and clean with a decent german malt background. Reminds me of Brick’s Waterloo Dark lager... If anyone remembers that one. Courtesy of Jonas. Thanks pal!

VDuquerroux (1686) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - FEB 3, 2015
Bottle, 500mL. Home. A beautiful clear brown orange beer with a medium off-white head ; medium retention. Grainy aroma, herbs, hay, metallic note. Light sweet, light dry bitter. Light to medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, sweet finish, herbal note. Overall, average grainy beer. Winter spirit ?

Taboada (1350) - Compostela (Galiza), - JAN 9, 2015
500 mml bottle tasted on the 08/01/2015. Dark golden beer with a foamy dense white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and grass. Taste is intense malty with some caramel hints. Medium body and carbonation. Aftertaste is a little bitter. Nice Winter Lager. Next one please!

Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer with a dense, off-white head. Some lacings. The aroma is rather vegetal, with pale malts and grassy notes. Some caramel hints in the flavor, with a generic fruityness. Resin and grass and a decent bitterness. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Some bitterness towards the grassy finish. Very boring this one. Not too good either. 141231

StueyD (1583) - Heacham, Norfolk, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2014
A mid amber brown coloured beer with a thick white head. A strong malty aroma, caramel and a hint of bready spice. Dry mouthfeel. There is a tartness to the taste in the beginning, maybe a suggestion of hop, but then the malt flavour charge through! Caramel and bready, loads of dried fruit, herbal and a touch of warming vanilla and cinnamon. The finish has all the elements that last for a long while!

BlackHaddock (7346) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 25, 2014
Half-litre bottle: BBD 2nd Sept 14, poured into a tall handled mug from Wolzacher Brauhaus at home on 25th July 14. The three beer in my German tasting evening. Looks good, an amber hue to the old gold body, on top a foaming head of white snow. Malty nose and initial taste with a hop bitterness arriving mid-sip. I like it. Robust and tasty, this is a very drinkable brew which hides the 5.4% ABV nicely with its flavours and depth of body. Not too wintery in it’s make up for me, slight herbal note here and there but nothing ’Christmassy’ about it apart from the front label on the bottle.
