Dark, smooth, deeply delicious and definitely moreish. This outstanding oatmeal stout has to be tasted to be fully understood. A medal winner at Oakwood in 2000, it achieves its satisfyingly malty flavour in part due to the roasted barley and Golding hops.
Ingredients: Maris Otter pale malt, black malt, wheat malt, roasted barley, oatmel malt. Goldings hops.

Cask from Barista Winter Beer Fest, Chelmsford. Almost black with minimal tan head. Smooth but a little thin for a stout. Roasted, smokey aroma. Quite bitter.

Cask at the sportsman croxley. Opaque black with caramel tones. Big light tan head that lasts the whole way through the pint. Soft roast some choc earthy hop some berry. Flavour is really earthy, some farmyard manure. A bit slick with soft carbonation.

Lovely rich dark brown colour with a tiny lingering head. Smells roasty slight chocolate/coffee- it's a stout, innit? Taste is sweet with lingering bitterness. I never thought I liked stout really but this is nice, I think I will drink more stout even though this has a slightly watery mouthfeel. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at Live and Let Live, Cambridge. Dark mahogany pour with a bubbly tan head. The flavour is smooth, malty and bitter. It has the smoothness and palate of a milk stout. An excellent and well balanced beer and perfect for a session.

Theydon_Bois (20437) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2012
Cask at the Alexandra Arms, Rugby - 19/09/12. Mid black in colour with a decent tan head. Roast malt and chocolate dominate the nose with a little coffee at the rear. Taste follows nose but a little blander, malt seems lighter, oats are present. Lightish body for 4.8%, low carbonation, a little on the thin and watery side.

evergreen0199 (3460) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2012
Cask at Great British Beer Festival 2012, Olympia, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, some chocolate, slightly sweet. Nice enough.
