Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly tan head. The aroma is light sour plum. The flavour is light sour with some sweet notes and rich fruity plum light barnyard malt, creamy yeast palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not my style at all.

Cask at The Market Tavern, Durham, £3.65/pint. Black beer with a thin, light tan head. The nose is pretty pleasant, with soapy, floral and fruity character. It’s also very sugary and portends the sweetness of the pint to come. Indeed the taste is very sweet, with candied parma violet flavours and a light smokiness on the finish that works quite nicely to stop it from getting cloying. However it is too sweet for me to score it any higher, as despite not disliking the pint, I certainly didn’t want another one. Props to Wentworth for making something far more interesting than their usual range.

Cask @ St.Urho’s. Dark brown, thin brown head. Plums, some dark fruity notes, pudding, vomit. Yak. Flavor has plums, raisin, sweetness. Whoa. Something in the aroma that was disgusting. Tasted better but could not finish. Not necessarily spoiled, but did not work for me. Next please.

(Cask at St. Urho’s Pub Portteri- ja Stout-päivät 2014, 20140212) The beer poured black. Its head was small and almost white. Aroma had dried plum, roasted malts and plum marmelade. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were dried plum, plum marmelade, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had plum, burntness and bitterness. The beer had plum and burntness and that’s it, not so good.

Cask conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury, Oxon. Black with cream head. Well this was certainly plummy in flavour, sweet, sticky, like drinking neat Vimto was well suggested at our table, you might need a long memory for that one. Sweet, dark malts, a little chocolate note. Overall it does what it says really.

Cask at Barton Arms; dark brown pour with bubbly off white head, dark fruit and roast malt aroma, taste is fruity with a hint of chocolate and some toasted malts, ok.

kerenmk (5357) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - SEP 28, 2013
Cask at The Rat & Ratchet, Huddersfield, September 2013. Black with a creamy beige head, plummy and roasty aroma. Plums are apparent in the taste, sweet and slightly tarty, and also bitter roastiness. Medium body, smooth, and a mouthful of roastiness as a finale.
