Our flagship Pale Ale winning Best Beer (Sheffield 1999) and champion beer of South Yorkshire in 2002. This golden ale’s distinctive character is skillfully achieved by the subtle blending of triple malts and Cascade hops making this delicious drink a favorite.

tombyars (1724) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JUN 15, 2012
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats in May 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Hazy pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Strong dusty hop in the long aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives loads tart citric grapefruit full in the mouth. Strong hop resins give a dry dusty citric aftertaste which builds into a hoppy finish with grapefruit peel evident in the palate. A decent summer session Golden Ale.

BlackHaddock (7518) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2012
December 2008: 500ml Brown bottle, well in date, poured into an English Pint Sleeved glass. Very pale, almost Lager looking, the small white head adds to the illusion. A mild wiff of citrus fruits hit the nose, grapefruit more than the sour lemons and lime fruits. Hops in the mix too. The grapefruit in the aroma comes through into the taste as do the hops. Nothing strong or outstanding in the flavour stakes though. A pleasant if unassuming Pale Ale, the hop and citrus fruit contents rule the brew without really making a statement, an average beer with an average score from me.

Probably a bad cask, but this was weak and very watery from Spoons in Scarborough.

Boring pale ale. Doesn’t zing but isn’t rank - some kind of beer black hole

maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 28, 2011
Cask conditioned Handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A bright gold coloured beer with a slurp of whitish head. A citrussy aroma and taste but it’s a bit harsh. I thought this had Amarillo but it states Cascade and Fuggles which is a strange combo indeed. has spicy edges to it. Fairly bitter. A bit disjointed.
