Draft. Medium amber. Nose is some sweet dried fruit, lots of belgian yeast esters. Lots of toffee and caramel malts with fruity and spicy belgian yeast notes. Not great but better than the current rating.

Tap at WFB, amber-brown with a thin lacing head, a little demerara and banana on the nose. Toffee and a little grapefruit on the palate, a little burnt caramel, sweet but not overly so for a Belgian brown. An interesting US-Belgian fusion. WF. Hazy dark amber with ivory foam. Spicy yeast, clove, earthy caramel aromas. Medium bdy. Sweet earthy caramel, rootbeer spice, clove flavors--- tasty
August 11th, 2013 - West Flanders’ Angry Monk is colored with one might expect to be the fevered, red ruddy cheeks of an ill-tempered Belgian monk, but it has all the awkwardness of one too. The aroma is exceedingly soapy, maybe tainted, or maybe that’s part of the recipe, but it only barely lifts enough to catch the other scents of light caramel and some crystal malt. The flavor is boozy, bullying up front with heavy alcohol notes, and follow-up tastes of strawberry and banana.
