I like this beer.
It has a sweetness on the nose that is really interesting. When I first tasted it, I could taste some vanilla or another sweet thing in there with some spice...which was really good.
The beer pours black like motor oil.
It is boozy, but you don’t get too much of it in the mouth...until afterwards. rodenbach99 (4572) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 4, 2017
2/17/16 drpimento (3672) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 25, 2017
It’s pretty good though a tad light in carbonation. Aroma is roast, dark malt, toffee, graham cracker. Flavor is like nose. It’s on the sweet side but not overly done with mild carbonation and easy finish. Good beer that hides its strength. SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 19, 2017
Batch #2.

Pours a brown-black color with a medium creamy khaki head that recedes gradually to a dense film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, chocolate and molasses. Full-bodied with flavors of slightly smokey malt, dark chocolate and earthy coffee. The finish is roasty with a malt and coffee aftertaste. Good beer all around. jandd1983 (4382) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 5, 2017
Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, licorice, wood, coffee and some smoke. The taste was similar to the aroma with more chocolate, licorice, wood, coffee and hint of smoke. It had nice carbonation with a smooth aftertaste. Good stuff. oobawa (1496) - Tennessee, USA - FEB 1, 2017
Batch #2. Massive cherry-booze notes on the nose, almost like a kirschwasser mixed with a mocha latte. Makes me worry about the heat, and, to be honest, this beast still needs some settlin’ down despite being almost a year old. Still, even with the liquor burn, it hits all the appropriate Imperial Stout goals, dripping with chocolate and coffee and dark-cherry-cordial-with-raisins sweetness. The finish dries out considerably, packing in a lengthy bitterness that carries on well into the fade. Boozy, sure, but tasty too. Just could use a little more time. I need the barrel-aged version STAT. keenano (61) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - JAN 27, 2017
Batch #2 - bottled 3/24/16. Pours jet black cola from the bottle into a snifter. Thin brown head that quickly fades. Aromas of black licorice and dark fruits. Soft initially, with licorice, ashtray, and slight sweetness at the end that is quickly overwhelmed by bitterness, like burnt coffee coachd (860) - Missouri, USA - DEC 24, 2016
I’m trying the second batch, 10.5% ABV. Smells like anise, black licorice and booze. Not very roasty with some lactose sweetness thrown in at the end. Looks great, pours out nice and thick, shiny pitch black color with no head, leaves slight dark brown lacing on the side of the glass. Tastes surprisingly light with some roast, a little sweetness and a little booze. Slightly oaky, short lived aftertaste. The palate is slick and smooth but should be more dense. Very drinkable for the ABV, but I was a little underwhelmed - Evil Twin makes so many good stouts.
