Westbrook BA 4th 8 4 9 4 From notes. Enjoyed at the hotel after FoBAB with Gus, Todd, and Ed on November 11. For some god-forsaken reason we decnded we needed to drink more. 22 oz bottle. I think this was released in 2017. The pour is a nice medium black with a thinner cap of light brown head that fades away with haste and leaving no lace in wake. The aroma is pretty damn solid. There is a heavy fudgy coconut almond butter thing happening with a light oakiness and a hint of bourbon that grows with temperature. There is a light vanilla that comes through late and really does well. The coconut is a little oily and lotiony, but it’s better than most. The flavor is a lot of the same. There is a great fudge to this, and the coconut and almond work better on the flavor. There is a great bourbon integration and a lovely vanilla and oak that balance out the back end. The mouth feel is medium to heavy bodied with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly fudgy chocolate and coconut dominating finish. I like this one quite a bit. Well done. 8 4 9 4 16

I can't imagine a beer anywhere on earth tasting better than this. It's sweet and fudgy and full of coconut and almonds and vanilla from the barrel. Very little booze. Sweet but not too sweet. The ultimate dessert beer, and so far my version of perfection. Thanks to the awesome dude from Chicago for pouring me some at surly darkness day.

22oz bottle pours a muddy brown/black, oily, with hardly any head. Nose has chocolate, marzipan, booze, nutty, caramel. Flavor is better, the booze and caramel blend well here, coconut too, marzipan, toasted marshmellow. Finishes sweet, a touch tannic.

Nice balance. Roast and decent vanilla like hot missionary sex. Black pour with good head and lacing. Oily texture but a little velvety. Bittersweet finish. Bottle thanks to Maniac.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours black with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is wood, roast, coconut, dark chocolate, bourbon. Thick body, chewy, roast, dark chocolate, coconut, tobacco, ash, boozy finish, very nice.

(On tap @ CBC 2016 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours black with a deep tan head. Aroma of heavy chocolate, coconut, bourbon, vanilla, fudge, nutty roasty notes, not tons of almond per se, quite rich. Flavour is pretty sweet to start with rich chocolate, vanilla, coconut, fudge, bourbon, but nicely transitions into a more balanced and drying middle and finish. Notes of cocoa powder, coconut, almond, nutty dry roast, light wood, a bit spicy but not very burnt. Finish is quite dry, lingering aftertaste of chocolate, coconut, roast, touch of whiskey. No alcohol. Medium-full body, smooth. Rich but balanced, this is really lovely stuff indeed.

Westbrook completely transforms a beer again. The base sucked. This one was like a liquid candy bar.
