3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared with Scopey. Pours black with a thin ram head with little lacing. Aroma is leather, malt, smoke, chocolate, malt. Palate is light and dry.
Pour is a near enough black with a large fluffy tan head. Aroma is a real nice roasted charred malt with some anise and chocolate. Flavor is more charred malt and super dry finish. I also get a bit of campfire smokiness but it is minor. This is definitely a American take on a schwarzbier. A nice roasty malt almost boarding on porter/stout territory. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - DEC 29, 2017
Glad to see this in the top 30 in style. Pours dark brown with tan head from the can. Aroma of roasted malt, rye bread, light caramel and coffee. Rich yet light, smooth bodied. Nice flavor. Slightly dry finish. ehaak26 (751) - - NOV 18, 2017
Can from 1StopBrewShop. Pours a nice black with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and rye. oobawa (1866) - Tennessee, USA - NOV 13, 2017
Tasty schwarzbier, heavy notes of roasted malt underlined by traces of chocolate, caramel, and smoke, with a mild sweetness complemented by slight fruit esters. Finishes clean (almost too much so), rye spiciness, minerals and a teeny tiny floral hop flourishes closing out the fade. Pours a deep dark black with a moderate cream-colored head and decent lacing. Nose gives up rye, dark roasted malt, and a little yeast. Perfect slick, easy-quaffing texture. Keep firing, assholes. shadey (2171) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 22, 2016
22oz bottle. Dark pour with lots of bubbles and very fluffy milk shake head. Cocoa and licorice aroma. Sharp carbonation. Soda-ish body. Interesting.

Tap @ Fermentoren, Aarhus. Blackish pour with a frothy tan head. Notes of roast, licorice, light coffee, some ash and sweet dark dried fruits. snoworsummer (6285) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUL 25, 2016
Bottle from the brewery. Pours dark brown with most no head. Tastes like chocolate malt, light booze, nutty, molasses, and light ash. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like chocolate malt, booze, nutty, m9olasses, and light ash. theisti (4238) - Kansas, USA - JUL 18, 2016
4 oz taster draft as part of a 4 beer flight at the Westbrook Brewing Company in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The pour is darker brown with a small light tan head. The aroma is soft roast malt and some sweet light toffee. The taste is the roast malt and toffee caramel sweetness, clean and nicely balanced. The palate is medium to light bodied with active carbonation and dry mineral roast finish. Nice Schwarz. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - JUL 6, 2016
Bottle; Pour is Cola Brown, with a fine bubbled beige head into this glass. Carbonation is modest but lively. I don’t believe Westbrook is known for lagers - skepticism was high going into this one. This one has a heavier than expected smoky nose, with nutty undercurrents and mild fruit esters. The flavor profile falls flat here - muddled roasty notes move forward to bittering rye grain and feint cocoa. This beer excels at marketing, but I could do without it. mabel (10003) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 8, 2016
