COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Over a year ago, the guys at CBX worked on a couple of collaboration beers with Westbrook. One of the beers, Citrus Ninja Exchange, was an immediate release and has since been brewed again. The other, a strong, dark, sour monster, was tucked away in barrels with wild yeasts and bacteria. That beer, dubbed "Old Time" after everyone’s favorite store manager, Brandon Plyler, is now seeing the light of day. A variety of barrels were used for aging, so you’ll see a handful of versions released, each with a different name. Grumpy Old Time spent the last year in Laird’s Apple Brandy barrels getting sour.

Bottle courtesy of elliesbrown. Cheers, Zack! Pours brown-Amber with a teeny off-white head. Nose is brandy, malt, vinegar, funk, barnyard Brett, and some oak. Flavor is similar with malt, vinegar, balsamic, funk, barnyard, and some lingering brandy. Light in body, ok with some age, and nice overall.

Hazy brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, lacto, wood, apples, and light alcohol. Taste of dark fruits, grapes, apple, caramel, wood, and some tartness. Slight alcohol burn.

phaleslu (10462) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2016
750 ml bottle shared by jmborggren - thanks again, Jeremy! Bottled 2/20/13. Pours a cloudy amber with minimal off-white head that settles into a thin ring. A bit oxidized, with wood, caramel, candy apples, brown sugar, cardboard, brandy, plums, and berries. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, tangy mouthfeel. Grew on me. Gets bigger, more balanced, and tastier over time.

Bottle at Wtf 2. Pours a dark brown with small off white head. The aroma is cherry, vanilla, oak. Thin mouth, tart cherry, wood, leather, vinous, very good.

arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 7, 2015
Pour out of bottle, dark brownish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark cocoa, caramel, hints of some apple, brandy notes into a bit of tart lemon, some oak, some dark fruits into a bit of grape, wine notes. Taste was a mix of oak, grape, apple brandy into a bit of tart lemon, slight funk, touch of caramel, toffee, finishing slightly tart. A bit too much for me.

burg326 (5577) - Florida, USA - MAR 19, 2015
Poured a dark brown color with aromas of light funk, some sweet apple brandy, dark fruit and light caramel. Flavors matched the aromas with just the right amount of sourness that blended all the flavors nicely. Abv is hidden as well.

Bottle... Pours murky and brown with a fleeting, white head. Smells like a malty, fruity duet of caramel and grape Kool-Aid. Full-bodied with modest carbonation. Tastes like grape Kool-Aid – tart, fruity and sweet in both the flavor and aftertaste. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

Finally opened this after holding on to it for the right person to share it with. Nice aroma with lots of earth and wood. Light on the sour specturm Good dark fruits and cherry. Pretty subtle on the palate. Lightly sour but still good and relatively complex. The 11% is definitely hidden.

DuffMan (10548) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 23, 2014
Bottle, sent to me by b3shine (thanks Beau!), and shared at RBAG 2014. Medium-to-dark brown, sour profile is balanced by caramel malts, lovely cherry and chocolate notes. A nice malty sour in the Flemmish tradition, and not a hint of the 11% ABV! Delicious!
