Bottle at home for blizzard. Reddish brown and hazy looking. Nose is hops and caramel. Tastes of green hops, caramel, toasted malt, grainy, and peppery. Dry and sweet finish.

Thanks to buffalohead for sharing a fine Oktoberfest. A reasonable introduction to Westbrook gives me the sense that rather than going big or trying to make everything sour they’d rather focus on the basics. Depending on how hard this is to acquire I might trade for a few more of their regulars once I make some room in the cellar or do more traveling.

Aroma / Appearance - A semifluid caramel base supports a pillar of thin head. Butterscotch, honey, and light malts open up over the course of a few minutes. Clean and simple, it gets the job done with much flash.

Flavor / Palate - Light maltiness sweetens the palate. A bit of polish carries the mouthfeel to a refreshing finish of caramel and honey. No wonder the brewery has so much buzz right now. If they ever expand into the Ohio market I’ll definitely grab a couple of bottles at the local store.

Pours a lightly hazy copper - nose of caramelized sugars, toasted bread, light fruity esters, a bit of spiciness - fairly nice texture - flavor is toasty malt, but borders pretty dang close to tasting burnt - however, this works to an extent as there is a moderate bitterness that plays with it decently - moderately warming spiciness, caramel - it’s pretty enjoyable despite the mild burnt character.

Dark amber with a light wrote head. Aroma is vaguely nutty with a bit of malt. Strong, malt forward flavor with a touch of nuttiness. Full body, vaguely sweet with a funky bitter finish. Wife: 3.5

Slightly hazy dark copper with a thin white foamy cap. Nice nose of toasted biscuit and caramelized bread, with a very subtle sausage note underneath. Smooth and biscuity flavor with a big spritzy carbonation and a little toast and semisweet malty undertone. A wee bit generic and bone dry on the finish.

I was expecting more from this after the other excellent beers. It’s very hazy. Bit of nuttiness. Corn in the back of the aroma.

22 ounce bottle thanks to James. Big pillowy carbonated pour. Too much! Taste is spicy hop. Malt. Much more nuanced than other Oktoberfests that just pour on the caramel. Nice.

From bottle. Clear amber with a lasting off-white head.
Toffee-heavy cara malt, butter and peanut brittle aroma. Medium body, rich and creamy with fine carbonation. Green-herbal-pine hop aroma. Light off-notes of plastic. Velvety and lush in the mouth. Burnt grain astringency lingering forever in a finish that tastes like pancake batter left on the burner too long... kettle caramelization taken to the extreme. Without this loud roughness this seems like it would be something enjoyable.
