Roast and big tequila like 16 year old high school part. Lots of booze and tang. Barreling heavily done. All hype here ladies and gents. Tangy and bitter with some oak. Tap at Churchkey.

Draft at brewvival. Nose is moderate tequila. Spicy. Light fruit. Interesting pitch black. No head. Light pepper and coffee from the bar beervand and underlying tequila notecwith light wood. Heat builds with each sip. Pleasant but the tequila doesnt seem to actually help the base beer.

Bottle, courtesy of Michael (misterburd) -- cheers, buddy! This has all of the things that I love about the base version of Mexican Cake; its sharply spicy without being overpowering or vegetal, and its got a great, full mouthfeel. The barrel aging is restrained, giving it a little hint of tequila and oak, but it is very subdued, especially compared against the big bourbon barrel-aged stouts out there. Excellent.

Bottle @ Mikes. Black in color with a tan head. A lot of ash, wood, and licorice. Big time cinnamon, spice, and fudge. Quite fruity, actually. Big time plum, raisin, and black cherry. Almost vinous. A really nice spice of cinnamon, chili, and nutmeg maybe. Fudgey flavor and a lot of wood. Big time coconut, too. Actually an enjoyable tequila barrel beer. Amazing.

Bottle courtesy of linusb and jokestereo. Pours oily black with a small mocha head that leaves some sparse spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and spicy with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, luxurious dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, tequila truffles, cinnamon, fruity habanero, moist soil and tequila alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and slightly spicy. Mouthfeel is soft, oily, round, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with huge amounts of tequila dark chocolate truffles and cinnamon. Lovely!
