3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark pour form the tap. No head, moderate lacing. Aroma is very typical for an imperial stout. Flavor is complex, chocolate, vanilla and in the back of the throat a bit of pepper. An interesting brew.
Intense dark chocolate, cacao nibs, dark roast, sweet grain malts. Hazy, very dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Heavy sweet. More intense, sweet chocolate, spices, zesty citrus fruits, chillies, soft carbonation, full bodied. Outstanding Impy, super rich and complex, nice chilli heat, not too much, just right. Keg at Milk & Hops, Gramercy. BuckeyeBoy (7975) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 11, 2017

On tap at Draught. Pours a deep black with a thin tan head. Big cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa. Medium bodied, roast, chocolate, cocoa. Big cinnamon, a bit of ashy roast. Slow roast, chocolate, vanilla, loads of cinnamon. Very faint heat, but I’m looking for it pretty intently.

Nose and taste of Cinnamon anise vanilla along with more standard stout-y roasted notes. Palate is a bit thin for the IS style, but this is a great beer. L_Lovecraft (616) - - JUN 12, 2017
Spiced, strong notes of cocoa, vanilla, black with a good brown head, medium/full body, pleasant carbonation, again strong notes of cocoa, good spiced final with an exremely balanced warming sensation...this beer is quite perfect, awesome! Mexican Cake is the most amazing Imperial Stout to ever touch my lips. My personal favorite was 2015 as it was like drinking velvet.
Westbrook has made succeeded in making one of the most coveted beers for those in the know. Luckily I lived in the Charleston area for a number of years and was able to taste it each year.
I drove back a few weeks ago solely to buy this beer.
