Tap at CBC, May 2012. It pours very dark brown, with a thick tan head. The nose is chocolate gateaux, roasted malt, coffee liqueur, cocoa powder, caramel and toffee. The taste is rich-roasted coffee, roasted malt, bitter chocolate, caramel, toffee, varnish, meatiness, charcoal, rich chocolate, spice and alcohol warmth. Full body, fine carbonation and luxurious mouth-feel. Great balance. Not normally my sort of thing, but thought this was very well done.

Taster on tap at CBC, first day. Bright naked surface, jet black body. Dark fruity aroma added by a touch of cocoa. Dark roasted coffee beans in flavour alongside hints of spiced dark fruits. Jam-like with vanilla chocolate and bitter coffee notes on the swallow. Warming alcohol. Very nice (Copenhagen, 11.05.2012).

Tap at CBC shared with Beerbiker and evil stepdad. Black look with a small brown head. Complex aroma of coffee, biscuit, wood, toffee fudge, alchohol and dusty chili. Alchohol flavor, sweet malt, digestives and spice. Too much alchohol, but great complexity and flavormix

Tap @ CBC. Deep brown with a massive, thick tan head. The nose is sugar, cinnamon, some espresso coffee and spicy chilis. Theres malty deep toffee, rum, chocolate. This smells hot and sweet indeed. The taste is hot sugary vanilla, some roasted coffee and chocolate. Notes of baked banana and caramel. This beers very sweet, but balanced out by some big roasty characters on the lightly spicy finish. Full and thick body, sticky. Overall, quite nice, but I would only want a few ounces of this. What started as a very high rating got marked down as I worked my way through this overly sweet beer.

Draught at CBC. Deep black beer with half a finger of beige head. Aroma of vanilla and milky coffee boiled down to a Viennese melange coffee. Taste is very sweet with lots of vanilla, delicious, but I miss some bitterness to balance out the syrupy of this beer.

ClubGonzo (5536) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 23, 2012
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Black body, medium white head. Intense filter coffee to the nose, followed by mocha, cocoa, dark chocolate, molasses and hints of pepper. Taste is big, no - HUGE coffee notes, cocoa, sweet malty tones, hints of leather and pepper. The vanilla has seemingly drowned, and the chili is very subtle. OK, but despite the complexity this beer doesnt really rock my world.
