UPDATED: SEP 3, 2013 On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. This is a dark brown - near murky one with a small heavy lacing and sidesticking beige head. It smells both buttery and sweet, some acidity also and a twitch of berries. Sweet in flavor, both sweet and sour actually, some lilies, licorice, woody red wine and glazed sweet blue plums with a little bit of alcohol. Tasty! 12.05.2012
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. Uinique on the nose this, and it has a really big heavy sidesticking dense beige top of a dark clear ruby brown colored beer. Sugar candy sweet, lots of raisins, the dark and expensive type and not small in quantities. Dark glazed dried fruits as well. Smells really nice this, but it’s giving an impression that this is a super sweet beer. Let’s try; no, not at all. It has a strong wood sourness actually, and it’s not sweet at all. Red sour berries with tons of wood. A bit unexpected considering the aroma. Vinous re wine and lingering flavors. 04.05.2013
From old notes. From tap at CBC 2013. Dark brown color with off white head. Malty aroma, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, light tart fruity, vanilla, wood, alcohol. Sweet and light bitter taste fruity like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. fiulijn (20372) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 3, 2014

Black color with brownish head, compact. The aroma is dominated by a very nice vanilla, with sweet wood and traces of raspberry, and a hint of cheese. Good body strength, with some residual sweetness, dark caramel flavor, evident influence from red fruits, and a fair degree of acidity; yet, with a touch of vanilla, this manages to be smooth. Overall well balanced.
A very interesting brew, one that makes me happy I tried it.
Last opinion: the aroma is fantastic, the flavor a bit too much fruity.
A great beer.

On tap at CBC, pours an amber-tinged dark brown / near-black with a large tan head. Aroma of prominent red wine notes, some caramel sweetness, and dry bready notes. Flavour brings out very prominent red wine notes atop anything, and some dry dark fruits. Very vinous and dry fruity. The red wine notes don’t dominate as much as on the bourbon barrel edition. Complex and elegant. Great stuff.
