COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For our Second Anniversary beer, we tapped into the legendary fictional adventures of the mythical Cap’n Skoon to bring you this monster Baltic Stout. It’s big and roasty like an Imperial Stout but fermented with a German lager yeast. Ideal for sipping now, or be like the Cap’n and stash some away in your cargo hold for the years to come. Cheers!

66cl Bottle at Beer Temple. Black colour, khaki-brown head. Aroma is quite sweet, molasses/treacle, sweet chocolate, pumpernickel, roasted malts, hint of coffee. Flavour is quite sweet at first as well, roasted malts, treacle, pumpernickel, laurel, chocolate, firm roasted bitter finish with some hops. Full-bodied, slick, sticky. A little too sweet imho, but quite nice as well.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2013 Tap @ CBC2013, small sample. Dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolat, but then with extra figs, mint or coconut. Bit too sweet in taste besides the medium bitterness. Cool to see it’s fermented with a lager yeast. 3.7 Bottle @ Beer Temple, large sample. Very creamy oatmeal, coffee, dark chocolate, hint of molasses. Smooth and creamy texture. Clean bitterness and yeast profile. Well balanced brew. Upping the score a bit to 4.0

CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 11, 2013
22oz bottle shared by GT2: pours an oily opaque with a clingy-lacing dark beige head. Has a rich sweet dark caramel malty nose with some dark fruity Noyes. Starts with good fullness and sweet dark chocolate with some dark fruits before a drier smoky and roasted finish. True to style, enjoyable and complex.

BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUN 2, 2014
Beautiful initial pour leading towards a large toasty, earthy and dark fruit character. You do indeed get lager yeast esters and brash alcohol. This was bottled 12/18/12 and does have a touch of that "aged" tone which works nicely here.

JStax (6505) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 4, 2013
Bottle shared at natifest. Pours a thick, pitch black with a brown head of foam. Aroma has notes of chocolate, raisin, fig, and blackcurrants. Tastes earthy and toasty. Thick, viscous mouth feel.
