COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is some lemongrass and spicy hops. Flavor is lemongrass with an almost vanilla like creaminess. Finish is fleeting and almost leaves nothing after the swallow. I’m thinking they could have used a bit of coriander and orange peel to spice this up a bit. It is ok but nothing special.

Pours a hazy, light yellow. Aroma is spicy, slightly sweet, citrus. Spice hits your tongue - ginger, mainly, and then some citrus. Mouthfeel is pleasant, full and crips. A refreshing wit.

On tap at Cosmos Restaurant. Nice aroma of fresh citrus, lemon, and some spices (ginger?) Nice straw appearance with a white head. Sweet wheat up front. Nice light spices mingle in between. Fresh lemon. Bitterness is light and balances nicely. Refreshing finish...nice.

Poured into a snifter. 3.25 A: Mildly hazed golden color. Two fingers of pillowy off-white head. Retention is a touch below average and a short ring of lacing is left. 3.5 S: This smells a lot more like a traditional witbier than I was expecting. Crisp wheat and spicy peppery yeast are predominant. The ginger is subtle with the lemongrass and sorachi ace (which is basically more lemongrass as far as I’m concerned) being more potent. More herbal than a normal witbier. Overall pretty good, but I wouldn’t call it an improvement over the usual. 2.75 T: The taste I don’t care for much and I know why. I really hate sorachi ace hops. It tastes like lemongrass and plastic. While the nose didn’t have much of the plastic, the taste surely does. The ginger is stronger, which I like. Otherwise peppery spiciness and neutral wheat. 3.25 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Light creaminess and smooth enough. 3.0 D: I would like this if it didn’t have sorachi ace in there. ★ 1,009 characters DavoleBomb, Feb 09, 2016
