COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is the premier offering in a collaborative series between two South Carolinians—one went to California to make wine, the other stayed home to make beer! We aged this Tripel for 9 months in French oak barrels that were used to mature the 2008 vintage of Whetstone Bella Vigna Pinot Noir. A refermentation in the bottle creates the tiny bubbles that bring this exciting fusion of the brewers’ and winemakers’ crafts to life.

Bottle… Mostly clear orange ale with a large, frothy, white head. Great retention. The aroma is fruity, vinous, moderately spicy and a touch bready. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is fruity and bitter with notes of red wine and vanilla followed by a whisper of acidity. Finishes crisp, snappy and warm, but not hot.

Somewhat disapointing. The wine taste is there but not so well integrated or complementary. Very boozy. OK drinkability for what it is.

Bottle at the TURD tasting. Flowery and yeasty aroma, with lighter vinous and fruity notes. The flavor has a bit of a grainy base, with floral notes, yeast, citric fruits, and a hint of wood. Decent.
