Cask half at the Edward Rayne. Pours mid brown with a white head. Aroma of malt with fruit. Sweet taste and finish. Think this is a little past its best.

Bottled 330ml (AbM)
Clear copper colour, small steady beige head. Toffeish, nutty aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Flavour has also nutty maltyness, crystal malts and English hops in the aftertaste. Very traditional.

20/VIII/16 - bottle @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2016-881) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing some beers today!

Clear reddish beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: weird, something bad, overripe to rotten fruits, medlar. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: weird bitterness, some banana, pretty bitter, tannins, sugary touch. Aftertaste: overripe fruits, malty, cow fodder, unpleasant bitterness.

500ml bottle (Ales by Mail)
Rich amber, small tight beige head. Nice resiny aroma, plenty of esters, and loads of caramelly malts. Fullish sweetish palate, pleasant carbonation sometimes a little high. Quirky in the mouth, not quite what I expected from the aroma. Plenty of caramel, some resiny herbal bitterness, later some earthier aspects and pencil shavings. Finish has a low throb of bitterness. Decent strong ale, but I’d like the carbonation a bit lower.

JorisPPattyn (10072) - BELGIUM - AUG 21, 2016
Yellow-cream head over hazy amber beer with a mossy sheen. Rainwater, toffee, caramel, restsugars suggested in the nose. Bitter-vegetable, underlying caramel. Light to medium bodied, feels quite carbonated. Average.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled 500 ml. bottle @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. Dark fox red, off-white bubbles. Nose is dull paper, oxidation, cardboard, stale,… Taste is fizzy old paper, stale plaster, dough, insecticide, herbal, band-aid, old paper,… Body is paper, stale, plaster, insecticide, fizzy,… not a fan, I don’t get the appeal.
