Spirit of Kent celebrates the Kent Spitfire, a Mark IX Spitfire housed at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar. It also recalls the XXX Modification Depth Charges that flew out of Biggin Hill in June 1944 filled with Westerham Ales. The XXX Joy Juice was racked into the unused auxiliary fuel tanks and flown over to the forward airbases in France.
This golden ale is hopped with 9 different types of Kent bred hops in a total of 9 separate additions. That really is the Spirit of Kent a beer with probably the most types of hops on the planet.?

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 3 - London. Pours clear orange-gold with a white cream topping. Solid bitter, with semi-dry citrus fruits, dry pine, grainy bread, faint dough and leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Pretty well balanced on the finish, lightly drying, with leafy bitterness and citrus rind. Good.

Cask at Sir Richard Steele pub. Pale orange, clear, still, small white head. Aroma is very toned down but there is some soft malt, glue. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is light malts, floral drying hop, resinous and pithy - too bitter like meadowsweet, chewing on banana skin. Didnt finish my half.
