COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, dry and spicy trappist ale. The product of a secondary fermentation lasting 5 weeks. This is a complex ale with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional ale, with a great deal of finesse and elegance, and with a splendid long after taste.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2013 I must have had a bad batch of this as I wasn’t very impressed with it, but I have since given it another chance and... wow! This beer is beautiful! It has a very strong, perfumed aroma of good quality yeast and malts, with dried fruits such as cherries & apricots. The taste is yeasty, spicy, fruity with a gentle bitterness at the finish. It is medium bodied with good carbonation, and a smooth mouthfeel. The alcohol is not hidden in this, and at 9.5% it is more of a sipper, but it is now one of my new favourite tripels!

Hazy orange beer with nice big white head. Aroma is good fruity, spicy, hops, yeast. Taste is full and complex, balanced between high bitter and sweet. Firstly soft and creamy, aftertaste is long and dry bitter fruity. Good beer, sit down and enjoy.

Aroma - medium, with lot of fruits and flowers, some honey, malt and, of course, belgian yeasts. Taste - medium, to strong, rich and very pleasant, starting softly and quietly, continues with a pleasant astringency, very carbonized and spiced, with some pungency, predominantly unripe fruits, flowers, honey and belgian yeast, some bitterness, but very well balanced, and, of course, belgian yeast - softly and well balanced. An extraordinary beer, pleasant and very well balanced. Very belgique!

This beer made me convert to Belgium beer. After getting used to it I can no longer return to my German Pils, which now feels a bit ’simple’. Don’t know all the fancy words to describe it; maybe it is like moving from b/w to color tv. Just try it :-)

From a bottle. The hype is deserved, even for this bottle that travelled half the world.

Klasyka gatunku.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Fountainhall Wines. You pour this straight into the glass and the head grows like a mad experiment. The glass looks good with a clear orangey gold colour, heaps of bubbles and a crazy tall off-white fluffy head. All very promising although I prefer the lighter colour of Karmeliet Tripel. The nose is nice with citrus zest, spice and apple sherbet. There’s toffee swirling around there too. The taste has the components of the nose with warm cloves, dry spice, sweet oranges. It’s all washed down with a spirit alcohol aftertaste with grain. The body of this beer is just incredible. It wouldn’t be out of place as a Champagne. Lively sharp bubbles filling the senses in a smooth medium body. The palate for me is the standout element here. The sweet zesty citrus and toffee blended with a warming spice balance everything out in a very distinctive Belgian way.
