A strong, dry and spicy trappist ale. The product of a secondary fermentation lasting 5 weeks. This is a complex ale with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional ale, with a great deal of finesse and elegance, and with a splendid long after taste.

Bottle. Pours hazy straw blond with a thin head full of tiny bubbles. The aroma is discretely peppery and citrusy. The taste is spicy, bitter and dry. It is quite rustic and devoid of malty sweetness, uncompromising. It’s a cult beer perhaps, but not necessarily a tasty one. The Westmalle Tripel was tasted along with Chimay Blanche and La Trappe Tripel and it scored lowest in all categories, losing by far.

On bottle @Ølfred - Aarhus Streetfood Pours hazy yellow with small white foam. Lots of co2, very fruity with a long hoppy aftertaste. Easy drinkable, though a high ABV.

Westmalle tripel is a little bit too heavy for a triple ale for me. I need more balance. I taste the alcohol... But its creamy in the mouth as it is written. Nice aroma, but I need more. Good with steak, cheese, fruits... I think that women wont like it... it is a really hard trappist ale. For example Tripel Karmeliet is more drinkable and in comparison with rochefort 10, which is QUADRUPEL and 11+ degrees - this westmalle tripel is heavier. Rochefort is more drinkable.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2017 Flot, gylden, lidt uklar i glasset. Let parfumeret i næsen. God fylde, man fornemmer den høje alkoholprocent, uden at det bliver sprittet. Halvtør afrunding. Solid trappistøl.

Another happy bring-home 750 ml bottle from an excursion to the Dallas area. Poured into my Chimay Trappist glass it shows an opaque, gold body sharing a bright white, lingering foam. Lifting the glass to smell I detect spun sugar and yellow fruit. Taking a drink, it is quite different from the scent. I get green apple, yeast, a mild bitterness from start to finish. The alcohol is totally concealed. Worth the effort, glad to have a sampling, but maybe I set the bar too high.

alcohol, orange, medium bitterness, medium sourness, bitter. Fifth beer of the blind test, most pleasant, clearly strong, reminds champagne. Needs a couple more glasses to give final rating

Superior beer. This is how you expect beer to smell and taste. This is the best beer I have had on this side of the world. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Have had already many bottles from this beer, but shared a bottle with Rabo yesterday. The color is light, heavy in alcohol, good aroma. In my opinion there are better tripels.
