Bottled. Pours a big white head that takes up half a tulip glass, then settles to a half inch of meringue. Body is dark yellow with some wit-like cloudiness. Smell is "clean," with a citrus and yeasty highlight. Alcohol is very upfront in the taste, and low level carbonation gives it an asti spumanti feel. Sweetness is vinous rather than malty. As others have suggested on the forums, this may be a hard style to understand. I certainly like it, but I keep expecting more of a "big beer" taste. But with this, I finally got to celebrate Easter with some beer made by monks (Oooh... I coulda had a Salvator, too!)
Belgium Trappist ale. Tripel 9.5% ABV. Classic Belgian ale. Sweet in aroma and taste. Slight alcohol typical of high ABV.

This beer made me convert to Belgium beer. After getting used to it I can no longer return to my German Pils, which now feels a bit ’simple’. Don’t know all the fancy words to describe it; maybe it is like moving from b/w to color tv. Just try it :-) StevieT (2013) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 22, 2017
From a bottle. The hype is deserved, even for this bottle that travelled half the world. stelcio (4) - Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, POLAND - JUL 21, 2017 does not count
Klasyka gatunku.

Bottle from Fountainhall Wines. You pour this straight into the glass and the head grows like a mad experiment. The glass looks good with a clear orangey gold colour, heaps of bubbles and a crazy tall off-white fluffy head. All very promising although I prefer the lighter colour of Karmeliet Tripel. The nose is nice with citrus zest, spice and apple sherbet. There’s toffee swirling around there too. The taste has the components of the nose with warm cloves, dry spice, sweet oranges. It’s all washed down with a spirit alcohol aftertaste with grain. The body of this beer is just incredible. It wouldn’t be out of place as a Champagne. Lively sharp bubbles filling the senses in a smooth medium body. The palate for me is the standout element here. The sweet zesty citrus and toffee blended with a warming spice balance everything out in a very distinctive Belgian way. alhobj (13) - - JUL 13, 2017

33cl bottle at home. Appearance: hazy golden with fairly big white head. Aroma: grains, yeast, banana, clove, spices, stonefruits. Taste: fairly high sweetness and high bitterness. Notes of spicy yeast, banana, nutmeg, apricot. Quite complex. Finish is dry, spicy and slightly wry. Palate: medium bodied, oily texture and lively carbonation. Piana bardzo obfita długo się utrzymuje. Kolor ładny złoty. Aromat słaby: miód i wanilia. Smak miodowy ,ale nie słodki. Goryczka jest ale nie za wysoka. Lekka nuta alkoholowa w tle. Piwo ciężkie ale bardzo dobre. Jedynym jego minusem jest aromat który jest: ubogi. Tak to polecam
