Ysok02 (1835) - Mons, BELGIUM - MAY 28, 2016

VDuquerroux (1869) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - JUN 26, 2016
Bottle, 33cL. Home. A orange-yellow hazy beer with a big white foamy head ; good retention. Light wood, apple, barnyard, roast, herbal notes. Medium sweet, warming touch, light dry lasting sour, medium bitter, light fresh windy. Good body, average texture, average good carbonation, sweet fruity acid dry finish. Overall, a great wild strong belgian ale.

Top!

Bottle. Pours clear orange with a medium, fizzy and frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma and flavor are heavy malt (cookie, straw), perfume hops, fruity esters, horse blanket, dust, pear, and alcohol. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation with a dry finish.

31/03/2011 - 33cl bottle @ home BB: JAN/2016 (2011-126)
Little cloudy dark orange to amber coloured beer, ecru coloured creamy head, little stable and adhesive. Aroma: sweet fruits, citrussy hops, bit of caramel, but mostly pretty faint. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity hops, a bit sweet and malty, bit bready also. Alcohol is noticeable. Aftertaste: citrussy hops, still quite some alcohol sweetness and ending pretty dry again, but not as much as the Westoek X. (If they give them the same name, I can compare them to one another :p ) Probably the sweet alcohol is doing it’s work here to balance the bitterness of the hops, but sadly enough that’s what makes this brew less interesting than the other one.

[email protected]: clear orange, passion fruit colour, sweet & very fruity (passion fruit, mango, papaya,…) with floral hops, toasted malt, plenty of yeast, slightly bitter finish, medium body & carbonation, easy to drink, interesting & fun

Pours an amber hue underneath a creamy, off-white head. Plenty of lacing left behind as the tight head fades away slowly. Smells of sugar, alcohol, and a very slight banana scent. Slight. Sweet, clovey taste. There is some of the banana in there as well. Kind of like a muted banana cream pie with a tinge of alcohol. Very unexpected and quite good. Thick and velvety mouth feel. Very nice beer. I wasn’t expecting much with the awfully printed label. Seriously, I could do better with crayons. But it is a very good beer.

Golden colur and longa lasting, white head. Floral, honey, citrus aroma. Subtly bitter, subtly sweet, subtly dry, fruity flavour. Not very different from the 6% version.
