50 cl bottle @ Lobby Bar Vaasa. Soft applegarden aroma. Nice golden color with small sparkles. Quite rich sweet/bitter applejuice taste. Some alcohol comes trough. Not so longlasting taste. Smooth palate. Not a special but ok!

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is light yellow. Aroma is notes of pineapple and apple. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. The pineapple note is distinctive and fun, but overall theres just not much to this. Sweet and simple. Hogans Medium is the easy winner of tonights cider showdown.

500 ml bottle, 2009 vintage. Three years after joining Ratebeer it finally occurred to me that you can rate ciders here, too. Here goes. Clear pale yellow colour, thin white head. Tart, dryish fruity apple aroma. The flavour is sweetish, dominated by apples, and with notes of vanilla and oak. Nicely warm finish. Tasty.

Henry Westons Special Reserve Cider 8.2% from the Vacaville BevMo. Pours pee yellow with some crispy fizzing. Nice appleskin aroma with a touch of oak. Flavor is sort of golden apple with some mild oak bitter. The oak sort of builds up with time. Very crisp and clean. Definitely less than sweet. Good stuff.

0,5 l bottle from British Store, Budapest.
Pale yellow one with a superb fizzy character. Sourish apple, fementation cask, woods in the aroma, green leaves. Light body, easy texture, flavor of a riped apple, fruity, mild sweetness with a woody character. Dangerous because the alcohol is well hidden. Good one!.

500ml bottle labeled "Henry Westons Special Reserve Cider 8.2%". Pours with a very pale clear yellow body with no head. Noticeable bubbles. Aroma of sulfur, light oak, wood, musty, tart apples and some carbonic acid (and malic acid, if not lactic). Flavor is a decent balance of sweet and sour. Some sulfur and a very earthy, musty finish. Oak flavor is near non existent (when compared to the aroma. Some tannins though. Thin with medium to light carbonation. Warming. Okay.

500ml bottle that I picked up in Portland. Pours a bright clear very light in color straw yellow with no sign of carbonation. Concentrated crabapples, hint of vanilla, French oak and a touch of white grape. Meld of sweet tart red apples and tart green, white wine grapes, kind of boozey and wine like in the middle as the apples fall off a bit and the finish is toward the drier side as the oak notes show up with hints of the tart red apple notes coming back in.
