500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pale gold, no head. Apple aroma, no real oak presence. Surprisingly thin for the alcohol heft. Dry finish. OK.

Henry surely is the godfather of cider. The unassuming label shows what looks like a sweet old man of years gone by. But in reality that sweet old man is a double hard b****** that is going to give you the time of your life! he’s insane, he’s wild, he’s the instigator. This cider tastes great, I have drank a lot of scrumpy and mainstream cider in my time and this is the happy medium. The best thing about this cider is the fact that it doesn’t seem to contain any alcohol in the taste, there is no after taste either. But it kicks like a mule, one min you’re fine, next minute Henry has punched you square in the jaw and taken your legs out!!

The Best Cider we have tasted in Australia by a million miles. These guys at Westons really know what they are doing. Not sweet and syrupy like all the rubbish sold in Oz but full of flavour, character and taste! At 8.2%abv it packs a punch but you would never know by the balance.

Benzai (15608) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 24, 2014
Bottle shared @ weekly tasting by Dutchdrebus. Clear pale golden color, no head. Aroma is heavily white wine. Taste is quite fruity, vinous, lightly sweet, sweet apple and a hint of cherries in the background. Not sure whether this is good as a cider but I quite like it.

2012 vintage @ benzai. Clear pale yellow colour with no head (I know, ciders don’t have head). Smells apple, wine, oak. Tastes apple, wine, wood, slightly corky. It’s probably pretty decent, but I’m not a fan. Medium body, no carbo.

2013. Golden yellow cider. Mild apple aroma. Quite soft. Some green apples in the taste but quite mild. Very good balance and a nice taste but lacks depth a little. The alcohol content doesn’t taste anywhere.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2016 Shared bottle at RB/HD at Fjøløy 03.09.16. Clear golden. Aroma of apples and pears. Refreshing cider taste. Hints of sulphur in both aroma and taste. Dangerously quaffable considering its ABV.

Bottle. Pours sparkling clear gold with a small and quickly vanishing white head. Aroma is apples, fresh and fragrant, light cookie, honey notes and wet oak. Flavor is sweet apples with a faint tartness, light honey and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

ManVsBeer (10467) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2014
Bottle from Tesco, Leeds city centre. 2013 Vintage. Not strong tasting despite the high percentage. Has a very palatable light texture with good apple aromas and tastes. Pale yellow in colour.

edsspoon (900) - Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2014
2013 vintage. Pours pale straw coloured with a fizzy white head which fades to a ring. Aroma of apple, pear and spices with some yeast. Taste is dry and fruity with apple, pear and lemon. Medium sweetness. Minerally and tarte, light carbonation. Easy to drink, perhaps dangerously so.
