Medium brown, roasty/toasty with a light piney, and a touch of citrus. Good, if a bit rough around the edges. BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - AUG 6, 2013
Brown in color, clear with a thin tan head. Weak flavors and finish. I was hoping for more. The flavors where just watery. BillKismet (4137) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 25, 2012
Birch brown, with red highlights and a ring of head, but otherwise flat body. Nose is rather roasty and caramel toasty, not much hops detectable. Quite roasty for a black IPA--perhaps from emphasizing roasted barley and black patent malts rather than than the usual BIPA debittered malts such as carafa. Some hoppy bitterness pushes through. The finish is a bit rough, dusty, and acrid porter-like. Ok.
