Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Citric hops, some lighter lemony and soapy notes, and mild bitterness. Fine.

September 26th, 2013 - The Golden Boy is an acquired taste, but one can acquire the taste before the glass is done. Served in a squatty pudding-cup shaped sampler vessel, it looks like a homely, soupy brew, with big soda pop bubbles on the side of the frosted plastic wall. The aroma comes off a little acrid, with a bread roll yeast, a slight lemon citrus edge, and a bit of hops. The first sip is almost indistinguishable from what I think Pine Sol would taste like. The chemical burn fizzles away to reveal hops, mizuna and dandelion greens in the aftertaste. Each sip inches further and further away from that jarring Pine Sol shock, but it never sheds that flavor entirely.

Draft @ the brewery. Pours a golden color with a longlasting white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma. Fruity malty hoppy flavor with weak yeasty hints. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty hoppy bitter finish.

Hazed orange pour with a white head. The nose has some decent citric hop qualities as well as some pine. But it’s also got a lot of green apple, solvent, sweet malt, and off-putting woody herbs. Sweet malt up front, some citrus, and a bit of pine. Strong bitterness, solvent, grass, green apple, and lots of woody herbs.
