Draft notes from spring cleaning. Poured hazy brown with off-white head. Nose was earthy, malty, mild oak, yeasty candi sugar. This was one of the earliest beers to use oak chips, and the flavor was oaky, dark fruity, dark malty, and fairly complex for a beer in the late 1990s. Fantasy Tasting-12oz bottle-pours a light tan head and copper/brown color. Aroma is fusel, medium malt, old socks. Taste is fusel, medium malt, old socks, some spice hops.

Bottle at Victor’s bracket box tasting at Paul’s. Pours a ruby tinged brown with a thin white head. Big old oxidized fruit, old malt, prunes and plums. Super oxidized, almost sour. Old and oxidized. Ugh.

20070303 12oz bottle, 2001. Strong boozy berry notes, actually reminds of Leroux Blackberry brandy. Yikes, it’s sour, thin, and plasticy.  Poured a murky purple brown color with a small, light tan head, light lacing on the glass. Aroma of leaher, sherry, sour cherries, a bit of cardboard, and some nuts as well. Taste of light vanilla, old fruit for sure, cherries, lacto bacteria, with a lengthy sour finish. Certainly seems to have become lambicish, and it wasn’t horrible... Pours a hazy amber, yeasty and muddy, with a fizzy head. Aroma is welches grape soda (thanks to RLB for that description), fruity esters, soy, oxidation, sour notes, cardboardy and metallic. More metal in the flavor, phenolic, old fruit, sour- acetic and lactic giving a wierd vinegar hint and a harsh astringent metallic finish. THis was a fun beer to share at a tasting. Thanks Jason!
