4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark, cloudy amber pour with a quarter inch head that appears to be ever so slightly beige. Boozy aroma wafts up after a swirl of my snifter, unleashing a barrage of dark fruits. Strong notes of prunes, raisins, figs, and candi sugar, with an undertone of earthy barley. Subtle hints of vanilla and oak as it warms, and definitely more than a suggestion of bourbon. Taste is warm and sweet, a robust body enveloping the tongue and coating the mouth for several minutes. Sweet and fruity up front, somewhat of a blast of booze flavor, but not too much alcohol heat. Vanilla and oak flavors are very pronounced, though the bourbon itself seems overwhelmed by the plethora of other flavors. The oak really comes through in the aftertaste left on the tongue, and I found myself taking several minutes between sips to truly appreciate the complexities. This is how a bourbon barrel quad should be done. I’m not always easily impressed, but this beer elicited an audible "WOW" from my lips.
I think this is a quality beer. But I did not care for it. I think the bourbon aspect of it overpowered it way too much

750ml bottle served in a goblet. BB date of May 2019.
Well hidden alcohol in this sweet, moderately complex quad.
Proper carbonation. Hints of dark dried fruits, wood, whisky and vanilla. BlazerT (1253) - Sosnowiec, POLAND - MAR 15, 2017
UPDATED: MAR 16, 2017 Bottle. Sensoric. Vintage 2013. Light brown, opaque with tiny, almost none head. Slightly boozy in the aroma combined with nice moderate raisins, vanilla, caramel, candy-like, slightly woody and oaky. Almonds and yeasty. Lightly spicy. Taste is light heavy sweet lil the end of degustation. Finish is sweet, vanilla, slightly chemical. Medium to full body, oily and thick texture, slightly warming down the throat. In overall very sweet and not really complex brew, despite having been 4 years in the bottle the booziness is all around. Nice and simple combination of flavors. Could be less sweet an boozy. carlom (92) - ITALY - MAR 10, 2017
Pours a deep iced tea brown with a big creamy tan head. Strong aroma of sweet caramel with some earthy woody notes and a big whiff of whiskey. Smooth with sweetness and warmth. Medium body with a light sticky mouth feel, Smooth finish with some warmth but no harshness. Decent lingering aftertaste. Just a tad too boozy for me but still fairly enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours murky reddish brown with very small frothy beige head, woodsy aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish caramel taste with woodsy flavor and whisky undertones, smooth body, medium woodsy finish. Very smooth, well balanced and easy to drink. Headbanger (4021) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - DEC 3, 2016
750ml bottle 12/3/16 (CMH-OH)-46° in Trappist Glass-Pours a ruby red with a very small ring for a head. Aroma of alcohol, malt, and sweetness. Taste of the same with caramel, toffee, and dried fruit. This medium to full bodied brew is pretty hot and I’ve had it for a few months but otherwise pretty darn tasty. Dal9000 (669) - Ohio, USA - NOV 4, 2016
At Ollies. 11.8 % ABV. In a snifter. Big creamy malt up front. Then a whiskey bourbon middle with a brown sugar sweetness. Finishes with a plum tartness.

Vinous plum, grape, malt and caramel nose. Cloudy brown, thin tan head. Toffee and candied plums, cherries airplane glue volatility on the edges. Whiskey finish. Full body, moderate carbonation, prickly, boozy. Complex and deep. 60minuteman (1765) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 8, 2016
Bottle bought 7/2012 pours ruby red almost purple few heads. Light-medium body. Heated on impact then the vanilla and berries/plum come through before finishing with considerable heat. Alc IS noticeable. Really smooth for almost 12%. Impressive stuff. Wish I held on to it another 4 years.
