wow from what i read is the first brewery to make a quad that isnt a trappist and i see why. this beer should make every other quad suck its ass. from the brewery cuz im cool. uh smells like bubble gum, wood, vanilla and circus peanuts (yes those little orange candy ones). and a hint of relishlike sourness. foxy reddish brown color nice lacey head not too big though. it smells so good i almost dotn want to taste it. THIS IS NOTHING LIKE A BARLEY WINE!!!!!! niggas is nuts.once yuo get past the alcohol kick. and yes there is one. the taste developes very well. the first thing i noticed was thai sticky rice and mango custard taste. lots of vanilla and wood and sweetness from the bourbon barrels. the tastie is sour and sweet and sexy. man and its 11.8 i love this its complex with being thick. crisp without being weak. and the heat really makes you happy. you need this beer. Bottle. A hazy orange beer with a medium beige head. The aroma is of yeast, fruit, bourbon, wood and alcohol, so is the taste, light sweet. Medium to full body with a sweet warming finish. Interresting and damn good! PsychoMike (3) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JUL 9, 2012 does not count
2012 version still needs some time to mellow, a little sharper than the previous years. Nice complexity of flavors and great oak notes.

Purchased at Hop City in Atlanta, GA; enjoyed on the last night of my recent work trip, anxiously awaiting the trip back home. When I saw this stuff I knew it was going to straight up knock me out, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. Appearance is a dark cloudy amber/gold with a thin off white head that rims around the glass. Aroma of vanilla, plum, booze, bourbon, Belgian yeast, sweetness, pure evil. Taste almost knocked me out upon first sip. Bourbon notes come out in full force but do not dominate the flavor, which is an amalgamation of vanilla, cherry/prunes, figs, which is just delicious. This one was straight up impressive...I’ve been in a rough patch when it comes to drinking good brews, and this one may have brought my focus back to good beers, which is not good news for my stomach, kidneys, or my waist line. tsd08460 (1165) - Marshall, Virginia, USA - APR 2, 2016

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2012 Light to medium copper color - cloudy. Smells strongly of bourbon. Very strong Belgian style beer flavor with bourbon notes in the background. Wonderful beer. I wouldn’t drink more than one in a sitting though. Palidor19 (3188) - Brandon, Florida, USA - JUL 22, 2012
this beer is the epitome of what a quad abbey style should be like. its got a real complex system, how highly candied sugar malts. touch of tropical fruit and high syrup flavor. the hops are minor but not absent of anything. its linger in a good way, this is the true beer drinkers beer. miquelcrush (2053) - Granollers, SPAIN - JUL 4, 2014
