COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

Poured a cloudy dark amber red with a very minimal head. Aroma hits you with dark fruits, mostly cherry followed by caramel and malt. Taste is sweet up front of the palate with a alcohol soaked cherries and finishing with the heat that I would expect. Mouthfeel is medium with carbonation that tickles the tongue and just a tad syrupy. A nice average barleywine for the abv.

Tap at 4:20, Rome-Italy. Dark and cloudy amber with chestnut skin highlights, regular and tick off-white foam. Nose: dates, under spirit cherries, red fruit. Mouth: caramel, ripoedvred fruit, alcohol is quite there. Clean and rich on the cherry side.

Crystal clear copper color, fine bubbles creating a lasting, tall head. Very heavy body, well covered by lots of flavor, extreme heat but low carbonation, lingering palate with a candy finish. Intensely bittersweet, very well balanced not only by bitterness but for a sharp acidity snd alcohol. Hops and malt fight for predominance but neither wins, we do. Caramel, blood orange pith, herbal. Fulfills all expectations for an American barley wine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy dark brown pour with just a tan ring on top. Aroma tells me Ill enjoy - cooked sugar, dark fruits, and a hint of booze. Flavor follow similarly but more intense all around, very sweet from start to aftertaste and boozy with some woodiness in the finish. A little less alcohol burn and more dark fruit flavors would have ramped this up considerably. Still a very solid offering for the style. Ill have it again for sure.

Bottle, thanks Christina! Dark fruit aroma with notes of caramel and a bit of booze. Pours dark caramel colored with a nearly nonexistent off white head that has poor retention and lacing. Starts with sweet dark fruit flavors of dates, figs and raisins with a full body and luscious mouthfeel. Finishes very smooth with some caramel malt and a hint of booze. Really nice barleywine.

Blackberry Backlog...Bottle shared with Pat, Pours amber-brown color with one finger head. Notes of fig, wood, sweet fruit, candy sugar, and other malty stuff. This barley wine is filled with heavy booze and dark fruit. Reminds me more of a quadruple than a barely.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2016 Bottled 02/25/16. Pours murky brown slight chestnut tinge. Beige head. Aroma is lots of plum, fig, dark fruit, cherry, raisins, licorice. Very much a sweet dark fruit, Belgian strong ale sorta beer. Not really a traditional Barleywine in my opinion in the nose. Flavor is plum, raisin, again, red licorice, bit of pine hop bitterness in the finish. Decently soft mouthfeel overall, works well in terms of ABV. Its kinda like a Belgian quad or strong ale without the heavy Belgian spice or ester notes, in terms of fruit. Could have done better under a different style. I wouldnt necessarily call this a proper Barleywine but its a broad enough style that it works. Probably wont pick up again.

Mooi amberkleurig bier met dikke romige crmekleurige schuimkraag die langzaamaan inzakt. Zoet aroma en smaken van marsepein, caramel, aardbei, confituur. Warme zoete afdronk die goed blijft plakken. Prima barley-wine.
