COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’ve taken Insanity and aged it in whiskey barrels with cinnamon. The result? It’s CINNSANITY! The addition brings a complementary note of cinnamon to the already present notes of bourbon, cherry and vanilla. This smooth 13.3% ABV brew is warming and balanced with a subtle sweetness and hint of spiciness thanks to the addition of cinnamon.

Hazy to cloudy brown color small head. Cinnamon aroma with a bit of vanilla and booze. Cinnamon up front in the taste with toasted fruitcake and more booze. A sipper.

bottle. Reddish amber with one finger head. Sweet with loads of cinnamon. Very boozy, but the cinnamon actually seems to smooth it out. I don't catch much bourbon. Unique and flavorful, but not sure I'd seek this one out again.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2017 Deep brown like a cider, with a thin, bone colored head. Aroma is rich cinnamon and malt, and it reminds me of an apple pie. Taste is the same, and powerfully boozy, like a strong cocktail. I love this, but it is totally lacking in finesse! $4/12oz

Beerdedone (3460) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2017
Bottle. Pours mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of big cinnamon, vanilla and caramel. Flavor of heavy cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, wood and notes of dark fruit.

Sample at Daily Growler UA during the "Collaboration Celebration! Sports & Jorts & More" event on 08/04/2017. Cloudy dark reddish-brown color with a medium thick beige head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Aroma of cinnamon, bourbon, dark fruit and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, cinnamon, dark fruit and caramel malt. The finish is oaky with a cinnamon whiskey aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle - Pours hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma is all about the cinnamon, completely masking the barley wine.

Bottle from hunger and thirst. Pours light brown with a thick head. Lots and lots of cinnamon on the nose and tongue along with some solid bourbon notes. Hides it's booze well. I'm really digging this one.

12oz bottle, courtesy of markwise, pours with a hazy muddy brown and deep ruby red body that supports a light tan head that has a pinkish hue to it. The aroma belts you in the face with sugar and booze nuanced cinnamon followed by cherry and then light notes of molasses and bourbon. It smells like this may have started out as a cherry cough syrup estery beast where the barrel and cinnamon are added to tone down the massive cherry like esters. The taste begins with sweet cherries and sugar sweetened and booze nuanced bristling cinnamon bigness. To midway its all firm cinnamon still blunted some by the sweetness and cherry candy. Into the finish a modest level of sweet vanilla and bourbon thankfully come to the surface to help break up this mess of a beer. This is nuts.

superspak (6086) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - AUG 1, 2017
12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/7/2017. Pours murky deep ruby red/copper color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cinnamon, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light coconut, herbal, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cinnamon, fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malts, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge cinnamon, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light coconut, herbal, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/cinnamon bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of cinnamon, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light coconut, herbal, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of of cinnamon, fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; a very mild warmth, and zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing spiced English barelywine! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of of cinnamon, fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Just as great as the base beer to me. The cinnamon is definitely pronounced, but hardly overpowering. The whole package is perfectly balanced between yeast, malts, and barrels; with no booziness at all. Kind of tastes like apple pie with the fruitiness of the yeast. A highly enjoyable offering.
