Bottle… Admittedly, I don’t know what this beer is all about. Haven’t read anything about it – including the label. Haven’t even heard of it. This happens at tastings at dimly-lit beer bars. Hazy burnt-caramel ale with a red glimmer and negligible head. To me, this smells like a strong, American-style barleywine aged in a red wine barrel. Acidic, tannic notes. Medium to full-bodied and a bit chewy with almost no carbonation. The flavor is a mishmash of elements both sweet and sour – caramel and sour cherries mostly. Tart, Mojave-dry finish. I like this. Seems like I’m the only one at the table who does. OK, finally looking at all the ratings. I guess Dan and I are the only two people on the planet that like this beer. Well, so be it. Pours brown and actually smells quite well. Very maple syrup flavor with a Brrrr sour hint... Not good.

Bottle into a snifter. Pours a flat murky mahogany. No head. Nose is pineapple, booze, sour, salty. Flavor is a mess. Pinapple mixed with sauerkraut and cheap booze. Flat, medium bodied.
