COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Insanity, 11.1% ABV, is made by aging our Blithering Idiot Barleywine Ale in whiskey barrels. The barrel aging imparts an additional level of complexity to an already intense malt profile by adding a combination of vanilla, oak and whiskey notes.

Poured a caramel color I to a snifter with very little head. Aroma hits you with a lot of sweet dark fruits and malt followed by vanilla from the barrels. From the nose I could tell there would be some alcohol heat. The palate hits you up front with vanilla followed by dark fruit sweetness, maybe a little too much. It is then followed by very noticeable alcohol heat, I expected some but still a little too much at just over 11% Abv. I gave this a solid rating as I know this will be nice in 2-4 years.

12oz bottle. 11/28/16 bottle date. Appearance: Dark brown with some amber hue, hazy, with literally no head. Pours still. Aroma: Caramel and bread crust maltiness. A touch of dark cherry, oak, and vanilla. Fairly restrained Taste: Rich caramel maltiness and strong woody oak dominates. Toast and dark fruit emerge on the back end, with a cinnamon and vanilla on the swallow. Bitterness builds to a moderate high Mouthfeel: Heavy bodied, almost syrup like, with low carbonation Finish: Slighty spiced rich malt sweetness lingers. Touch of dark fruit Overall: The appearance is flat and aroma subdued, but a really pleasant and complex flavor that balances caramel, bead crust, dark cherries, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla. Drinks well and doesn’t show any harsh alcohol for a beer of this strength. Great for a cool winter night

2013 keg on tap at Beverage World. Spiced apple, nutmeg, balsa wood, apple skin, raisin, caramel, mint, almond. Delicious!

12 oz bottle shared by ebone1988. 2016 vintage. The pour is a dirty ruby brown with a thin light tan ring of head and a spot of lace as it hangs around. The aroma is really strong. There is a big alcohol right up front with a sweeter malt and a light caramel. Not a lot going on, but it's interesting. The flavor is much of the same. Watery caramel and a strong malt with a heavy alcohol. There is a toffee sweetness to it that balances out well. The mouth feel is sharp and medium bodied with a softer carbonation and a lingeringly bitter toffee malt and alcohol lingering on. This is still hot as hell. Damn. 6 4 6 4 14

This beer is too strong for my taste. Too much bourbon alcohol dominates and does not allow the rest of the beer to come through. There is taste of dark fruits and figs in the background. But the alcohol suppresses and overwhelms the other ingredients. Too bad!

Tastes of caramel, brown sugar, a bit of a leathery, farmy smell, and some cigar tobacco at the back of it. Delicious.

Aroma caramel, raisin, vanilla, woody, Appearance brown, hazy, cloudy, minimal head, tan foam, Taste medium sweetness, Palate full body, thick feel, Over after almost 2 years this beer has smoothed out a lot. A thick mouth feel with lots of dark fruits in the taste. The alcohol is more of a warming feel. I would suggest this beer to a friend.

I am not a whiskey drinker, so this was repulsive to me. One drink and I had to pour the rest down the drain. Unsure which is the worst - this or Sunday Morning Stout. Both I would most likely vomit if I tried to drink the entire bottle.

Ta bien at Clubhouse BFD. Pours murky dusty copper. Small ring of off white head. Aroma is cherry, raisin, fig, minimal bourbon, little boozy, vanilla, toffee. Flavor is sticky sweet cherry, sweet dark fruits, raisin, plum, boozy burn, little bourbon, kinda bitter finish. Sweet up front. It’s fine.
