COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

12 oz bottle. Poured out a cloudy golden yellow, much lighter than expected from a Trippel, moderate white head. The aroma was fairly deep but slightly sour. Mouth feel was down right oily. Taste was cloyingly sweet, bordering on unpleasant. One try was enough for this one.

Draft to snifter at Cappy’s pour avg gold with thin white head. Nose sweet malt, Belgian ester, bubble gum, banana. Taste sweeter flavors, fruits, esters, and some balancing malt.

From tap. Pours clear gold with two fingers of fluffy white head. Nice Belgian yeast nose, lightly funky fruit. Flavors are banana, clove spice, yeast. Medium bodied with ample carbonation, medium length finish. Holds the alcohol well for 9%

Not sure what’s going on with this Tripel, but there’s a strong medicinal sweetness soaking through all other aspects of the pint, combining with the sugar to give it a banana Ny-Quil flavor I’m not enjoying too much. Not a dealbreaker; the normal grassy, sunny notes mix with mild green apple for a pleasant brightness, and the finish is somewhat dry. But the banana weirdness makes it a bit hard to get through.

May be the best tripel i’ve ever had.amazingly sessionable for such a big beer.great balance of malt and hops.being from the easton pa area i have been on their brewery tour and have tried almost every release,and merry monks is the best..its too bad their other beers are so foul and most of the guys employed there are such pompus arrogant snobs.

This beer is smooth as fuu. Pours golden and very cloudy. Has a very soft, creamy, and pillowy palate, with a sweet taste of apricot. The 9.3% is completely hidden- not even a hint of alcohol. Have seen it in the store and was slightly creeped out by the weird monk shushing me (NO YOU SHUSH) but ordered it in the bar and it was my favorite of the four of the night. Gonna have to ignore the creepy susher and pick up one of these next time I see it!!

Shared with wim at phil’s place. Clear goldblond colored beer with no head no carbonation floks of yeast visible. Spicy yeasty aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is yeasty spicy.

Triple en prétendue imitation belge, de 9,3 % abv avec du malt pilsner !!! J’ai rarement vu une étiquette avec aussi peu d’informations .. seulement le niveau abv, point final. Mais pour mettre le dessin d’un moine idiot en cave, là on a trouvé les moyens .. Bref … mon exemplaire était à 1 mois avant sa date, c’est-à-dire les 2 ans préconisés par le brasseur. Couleur doré moyen, à la clarté brillante. Bulles fines, par milliers, partout, très vives. Mousse blanc cassé, stable à 2 mm, mais seulement alimentée par les bulles qui poussent en-dessous. Arôme de sureau qui domine tout et noie les autres arômes, sauf un peu de paille sèche. 1ère bouche souple avec un malt léger dominé par le sureau, et une pointe de coriandre. Arrière-bouche tout à fait déséquilibrée, et fort vilaine. 2ème qui ne change rien. Arrière-bouche peut-être pire que la 1ère. 3ème toujours au sureau .. à mon avis, ils ont mis l’arbuste entier dans le brassin !! Arrière-bouche sans aucune élégance. Longueur qui fatigue … Jambes lisses. Levure qui semble correcte. Alcool tout à fait inefficient, il n’apporte rien à l’ensemble. Finale médiocre. CONCLUSION : ce n’est pas avec cela que les USA vont faire de la triple belge … c’est le moins que l’on puisse dire !!! Et d’ailleurs le moine sur l’étiquette vous fait signe de vous taire !!! Il a compris ...

12 oz. bottle. Poured a slightly hazy straw/gold with a 1/2" white bubbly head. Mild Belgian yeast aroma with scents of bubblegum, banana and clove. Sweet flavor with all of the above present. Mild flavor of some apple and pear. Medium bodied with a mild alcohol burn. Very nice.
