Brewed to the classic “Weyerbacher anniversary requirement” of a strength of 10% ABV or more, Nineteen fits the mold and brings a new dimension to the anniversary pedigree: tartness! Two brews were made: a high-ABV mango-infused wheat beer and a tart blending beer, both using pale and wheat malts and a blend of Belgian yeasts. The final blended beer features both tropical sweetness, as well as the tart citrusy character of a spontaneously fermented beer. Nineteen should cellar quite well. Cheers!

Intensely fruity, sweet, definitely a nice mango punch, but it kinda tastes more like a wine cooler than a real sour beer. I’d be interested to see how it ages, and it’s not awful, but a weird beer that I wasn’t in love with.

JPDIPSO (6298) - Wauwatosa, USA - FEB 3, 2017
Lightly hazed, light golden color with a dense, ½ inch of heavy cream colored bubbles. Aromas are mild, with honey and powdery floral scents. Light wheat, followed by a mild berry/mango flavor. Lightly acidic in the finish. This does not show the advertised 10%. Might need to cellar, just to see if this could become something more than a light guezue. Likely not. 7/14

Pours a nice deep dark golden brown. Aromas of hay, hop flowers, carmel malts, candy sugar, mango. Flavor: oak, caramel malts, mango, light hops, brown sugar, and alcohol.

Pours an a golden orange color with a white head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma of wheat, mango, and yeast. Citrus flavor with wheat, mango, and some tartness. Very nice. Wish I had more.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Hazy orange with small off-white head. Aroma is pretty nice mango, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is tart citrus, mango, and sweet. I would guessed fruit beer or strong Belgian ale, more like a barley wine as it warms.

rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 20, 2015
bottle. lightly hazy golden orange. tart and fruity with mango and orange. mild underlying sweetness, but the tartness really brightens things up. doesn’t come across as a high abv beer. this certainly isn’t what i expected, but i really enjoyed this one.

koleminer20 (4171) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 27, 2015
12 oz bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is a foggy orangey gold color with a thin white head and no lace. The aromas are definitely heavy in wheat. There is a little tropical fruitiness, specifically mango and a lot of yeast after that. I wish these people would give up on the Belgian yeast. Damnit. The flavor is a bit better. Completely away from the style, but I like it. There is a big fruitiness and a light sourness. There is a strong yeasty aspect but the funk comes through on the back end. The mouth feel is thin and lightly carbonated with a lingeringly sour funky aftertaste. Not too bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is citrus, sweet fruit, wheat, dry. Appearance is orange, off white head. Taste is sweet and sour, lots of citrus, good hop presence and wheat. Mouthfeel is decent, good carbonation and lots of flavor. Overall, not as bad as I expected.

September 18, 2015 - bottle via trade with Tom. Clear orange pour with some head that faded somewhat quickly. Aroma was fruity, bready, and alcohol. Taste was grainy, fruity and an awkward tartness. Dry alcohol in the finish.

DocLock (11189) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 22, 2015
Aged Bottle from Capone’s. Hazy copper pour with tan head. Nose was caramel malt, yeasy, rock sugar, hops, mango. Tastes yeasty, with notes of mango, hops, tangerine, wheat, and a complex finish.

Bouteille de Kingdom Liquor, thanks Deepak for the gift. BB 06/09/2019.
