Deep brown in color with a medium white head. Malty, nutty and light hoppy flavor. Ctirusy, earthy and piney notes. Dark fruity flavor. Medium bodied. Nice dry hoppy finish. Very drinkable. Nice beer.
(backlog) Draft at hulmeville inn. Brown pour with tan head. Pine and light citrus aromas. Flavor is citrus and pine, but no real dark tones outside of aesthetics. DocLock (11048) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 8, 2011
Draft at Capone’s during Philly Beer Week. Poured dark brown with khaki head. Nose was piney resiny hops, scotch malt. Tasted assertively hoppy, with a good malt bill, sort of a middle of the road between a pale IPA and a black IPA, with good balance and a smooth finish. Nice beer, and my favorite so far from the IPA series. Jesterdeal (1986) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JUL 1, 2011
Aroma of scotch pine and sour cream. Pours dark brownish red with a big thick head. Tastes of roasted fruits and pine. Very good black IPA. italianjohn (3259) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2011
Deep brownish pour off white head lots of lacing .... roasted and citrusy hop in the aroma ... taste is roasted malts and citrusy hoppy with a resiny hop and a not too strong bitterness that flows into the finish .... an average black ipa egajdzis (6730) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 12, 2011
Brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, light roast, pine, and floral hops. Taste of caramel, light roast, cocoa, citrus, pine, tobacco, and light grapefruit.

Pours deep brown and clear with a creamy white head. Aroma was quite balanced between the hops and the malts. Earthy, piney hop aroma was complemented by roasted elements. Not overly bitter. A very solid beer that doesn’t quite standout over other black IPAs. Goodgrief (2059) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - MAY 28, 2011
On tap at Capone’s. This is a pretty run of the mill black IPA. Mahogany colored, smallish head. Lots of roast and some fruity like hops. This was the "roast IPA" type of Black IPA (against the happy Porter type), and not my favorite type. Some also goofy like milky flavors. Just meh. adrian910ss (2595) - Doylestown, PA, USA - MAY 27, 2011
On draft at Capones. Pours a deep dark mahogany amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of various hops, light buttery notes, malts and tangy citrus. Taste of various hops, tangy citrus, malt and light toffee. jsmerig (1680) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2011
On tap a Capone’s in Norristown. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Seems like a Black IPA. Aroma is of floral hops. Taste is dark, bitter and roasted malt with a very dry finish. Very light on the malt notes at the beginning then it goes straight to the roasted bitterness.
