Draft at Capone’s from a 1L hand-bottling. Pours burnt sienna with ruby edges and a 1-finger khaki head that leaves decent lace. Nose is malty, fruity, with some caramel, brown sugar, and toffee notes. Tastes very malty, with a berry fruitiness, caramel and brown sugar, mild roasty and rauchy notes, and a medium palate heft. Draft. Pours amber brown with a beige head. Sweet malty aroma with light dark fruity notes and light hops. The flavor has a nice caramel malty sweetness, light candy noted, a hint of dark fruits, and some light smokiness ermerging as it warms. On tap, pours a light bodied amber color. No lacing or head. Aromas are light as can be and almost undetectable. Taste is jalapeno, wood, pepper malts. Weak bodied and flavored. Not my favorite scottish ale.
